Through skills acquisition and empowerment programs, seminars, school-based workshops, and webinars, HIA carries out advocacy and training initiatives targeted at displaced women and female inmates. The organization also runs entrepreneurship programs for displaced women by teaching them practical skills and providing start-up capital. In addition, HIA is committed to developing the Mindset and capacity of young girls and women to help them reach their full potential. Through these initiatives, the organization actively contributes to the achievement of the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG1 (No Poverty), SDG5 (Gender Equality), SDG8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG10 (Reduced Inequalities)

Today’s story is about a woman who learned that strength is not always loud. For years she moved through life doing everything for everyone, smiling on the outside while carrying a thousand quiet battles inside. She showed up for her family. She supported her friends. She built dreams for others even when her own felt delayed.

One day she did something simple but brave. She paused. She asked herself what she truly wanted. For the first time, she put her needs on the list. It was uncomfortable at first, but that small decision opened the door to a new version of her.

She began to set healthy boundaries. She learned to say no without guilt. She made peace with starting again. She replaced self-doubt with intentional action. Slowly her life shifted. Not because everything became easy, but because she chose herself without apology.

Her story reminds us that growth is not always dramatic. Sometimes it is found in the quiet moments when you finally decide to honour your voice. This Friday, let her journey inspire every woman to choose herself, heal at her pace and rise with purpose.

Her Story Friday

This week, I celebrate the quiet strength of a woman who learned to rise long before anyone ever clapped for her. She grew up believing she needed to hide her voice to keep the peace, but life kept presenting moments that demanded courage. Each challenge pushed her to choose herself a little more.

She was the girl who once doubted her place in the room, yet she became the woman who now walks in with purpose. She faced days when nothing made sense, when the goals she dreamed of felt too far, when she questioned whether she was enough. But she kept moving, she kept learning and she kept showing up for the woman she hoped to become.

Her story is not defined by perfect choices or flawless victories. It is shaped by her resilience, her willingness to grow, and her refusal to let life harden her heart. She has learned to speak with clarity, love with intention, and walk with grace even in difficult seasons.

Today she stands stronger, wiser, and more grounded. Not because life was easy, but because she chose healing over bitterness and progress over fear. She is still evolving and still learning, but she is proud of how far she has come.

The Woman Who Turned Rejection into Purpose

When Linda applied for her dream job at a major development organization, she was confident because she had the qualifications, the passion, and years of experience in community work. But when the rejection email came, it crushed her. For weeks, she questioned her worth and wondered if her efforts had been in vain.

One evening, while mentoring young girls in her neighbourhood, one of them said, “Auntie Linda, I want to be like you when I grow up.” That sentence changed everything. Linda realized she didn’t need a big title to make an impact and she could start where she was, with what she had.

She began a small community initiative teaching girls leadership, confidence, and vocational skills. Five years later, her project has empowered over 300 young women to start businesses, return to school, and become mentors themselves.

Her story reminds us that sometimes rejection is redirection. Purpose doesn’t always come from the opportunities we chase. It often comes from those we create.
