After our official launch, the EAR Campaign moved swiftly into implementation. Following engagements with school authorities and in collaboration with our local implementing partners Miss Starcy Foundation Community Hub for Inclusive Development and DAREM we transitioned directly into sensitization activities.
Our sensitization sessions focused on helping pupils and students identify key factors contributing to gender-based violence (GBV) especially R**e, and to understand how early prevention and awareness can make a lasting difference.
In primary schools, our approach centered on:
Helping children identify private parts
Teaching basic preventive measures against r**e
Building confidence, compassion, and understanding for survivors
Reducing stigma by starting these conversations early and age-appropriately

At the secondary school level, the sessions became more interactive and conversational. Since students already had a clearer understanding of GBV and r**e, the discussions felt more like an exchange of ideas. It was powerful, and honestly refreshing, to engage with young people who were curious, vocal, and eager to learn and share.
Through this phase, we successfully sensitized pupils and students in three schools:
Gloria Nursery and Primary School Bokova
Molyko Government Primary School
Government High School Upper Bokova
These conversations reminded us why this work matters. When children are given the right information in safe spaces, they grow into confident, empathetic individuals who can protect themselves and support others.
This is how change begins — one conversation, one school, one child at a time. 💙

It was truly heartwarming walking through the hallways of Government High School Bokova and seeing their commitment to combating sexual violence and r**e boldly written across the walls. Sitting down with the vice-principal for a heartfelt conversation, we listened as he shared the realities faced by students and emphasized how timely and necessary this intervention is for their lives.

He further explained how training students in income-generating skills will have a lasting impact, especially since poverty remains one of the major drivers of sexual violence, pushing many young girls and boys into vulnerable situations.

We had similar experiences during our visits to other schools, and these conversations strengthened our resolve and encouraged the effective ex*****on of our sensitization and skills-training programs, moving forward.

Together, we continue to speak up, educate, and act.
Silence is not an option.

Day 3 was nothing short of monumental. At Government Primary School, Muea, we trained over 90 pupils making it our largest and most energetic session of the campaign so far! 🙌🏽

With tables set, aprons tied, and sleeves rolled up, pupils dove into the world of scotch eggs, meat pies, and yogurt production. What followed was a beautiful mix of focused learning, laughter, and teamwork.

The pupils asked thoughtful questions, followed instructions with care, and supported one another like young professionals in a kitchen. Every group showed pride in their creations cheering when their scotch eggs came out golden brown and clapping when their yogurt thickened just right. 🍶🥚✨

Teachers and school staff were incredibly supportive, and the children’s sense of ownership and joy was heartwarming to witness. This school had already shown resilience during our sensitization phase — and now they showed us what healing and hope look like when you put knowledge into action.

Special thanks to our training team and volunteers from Miss Starcy Foundation, CHID, and Breech Care, whose commitment made it possible to manage this high-energy, high-impact day. 💪🏽

And to our funders at Cameroon (REWOCAM), thank you for giving us the tools to turn learning into legacy. The ripple effects of today will be felt for a long time to come.

Day two brought us to the vibrant Catholic Nursery & Primary School in Mile 16, where over 60 enthusiastic pupils rolled up their sleeves, tied their aprons, and got straight to work! 🍳🥟🍶

The training focused on egg rolls, meat pies, and yogurt production, and the children approached every step with curiosity and joy. There was laughter in the air, the smell of fried goods warming the hall, and dozens of tiny hands eager to stir, knead, mix, and taste.

What stood out most was the incredible teamwork on display. Pupils encouraged each other, helped their classmates understand the steps, and proudly showcased their finished products with wide smiles.

💬 One pupil shared,

“I didn’t know I could cook anything! I want to try this at home with my mom.”

Beyond learning recipes, these pupils learned confidence, coordination, and a new appreciation for what they can create with their own hands. The kitchen became a classroom — and every moment was a lesson in empowerment and dignity.

We extend our gratitude to the staff of Catholic School Mile 16 for their hospitality, and to our partners from Miss Starcy Foundation, CHID and Breech Care, whose volunteers made this session smooth, safe, and successful. 🙌🏽

And none of this would be possible without the generous support of Rescue Women (REWOCAM), whose investment in grassroots change continues to spark real transformation in our communities. 💜

The training phase of our EAR Campaign 2.0 officially kicked off at Our Lady of Peace Nursery & Primary School — and what a powerful start it was! 💜

We had the pleasure of working with over 60 bright, eager pupils, who were trained in the preparation of egg rolls, meat pie, and yogurt. For many, it was their very first time handling cooking tools, measuring ingredients, or even making a snack from scratch — and their excitement was unmatched. 🍞🥚🍶

What made this session even more special was the curiosity and confidence the children brought into the kitchen. Between rolling dough and stirring yogurt, they asked questions like: 💬 “Can we sell these to help our parents?”
💬 “Can we teach our friends how to make them too?”

These were more than just recipe sessions — they were conversations about confidence, responsibility, and gender equality, all kneaded into flour and folded into dough.

With support from the amazing school staff, and volunteer trainers from our partners at CHID, Miss Starcy Foundation and Breech Care, this session set the tone for a phase that empowers children not just to speak out — but to build skills that can carry them forward.

A heartfelt thank you to our funders Rescue Women – Cameroon (REWOCAM) for believing in this vision, and to every child who showed up, learned, and reminded us why we do this work.

🙌🏽 Because every child deserves protection, knowledge, and opportunity.

Our sensitization session at Government Practicing School Group 1 & 2 during the EAR Campaign 2.0 was one of the most vibrant and engaging of the entire project. With a diverse crowd of pupils from Nursery all the way to Class 6, the energy in the air was unmistakable — and so was the readiness to learn.

From the start, the pupils responded with curiosity and confidence. Some of the youngest could clearly identify their private parts and shouted out answers to questions like,
“Who is allowed to touch your body?”
“What do you do if someone makes you feel uncomfortable?”

The older pupils brought the session to life with their bold questions and critical thinking. We discussed tough but necessary topics:
“What does consent really mean?”
“Can boys be r**ed too?”
“What causes r**e in our communities?”

They identified causes like po*******hy, misinformation, alcohol, and even cultural silence. It was powerful to hear children connect what they’ve seen or heard around them to the content we were teaching. And while some were shy, our “5-speakers-per-class” format gave everyone a chance to participate and many found their voices in the process.

The emotional intelligence and insight displayed by these pupils reminded us that they're not too young to understand, they’re often just waiting to be asked.

We extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Gov’t Practicing School Group 1&2 for welcoming us into their space, and to our partners REWOCAM, CHID, Miss Starcy Foundation and Breech Care for walking this journey with us.

Together, we’re helping children speak up, stand strong, and say it loud:
**e!

📍 A Visit Marked by Pain — and Power

Our journey took a deeply emotional turn as we visited the Government Primary School in Muea, one whuch had recently made headlines after a r**e survivor’s story went viral on social media. The air was heavy with grief — but also filled with a profound desire for healing, learning, and change. 💔💪🏾

Though still shaken, both teachers and pupils welcomed us with courage. What followed was one of the most insightful and inspiring sessions of the EAR Campaign 2.0.

These pupils were not just listeners — they were leaders in thought.
🗣 They spoke of r**e consequences like death and over-bleeding.
🗣 They called for kindness, support, and dignity toward survivors.
🗣 They asked bold questions.
🗣 They chanted our slogan — “ **e!” — loud enough for the community to hear.

This session reminded us that children understand more than we think. They feel the pain. They see the injustice. And when given the space, they rise to speak out for truth, safety, and support.

We are proud to have stood beside them, and we reaffirm our call for justice, protection, and empowerment for every child.

🙏🏾 Deep thanks to Rescue Women – Cameroon (REWOCAM) for funding this work through the grant, and to our partners CHID and Breech Care for walking this journey with us.

Our Lady of Peace – Where Courage Found Its Voice

At Our Lady of Peace Nursery and Primary School, our EAR Campaign 2.0 sessions unfolded in powerful ways. From nursery to Class 6, every child had something to say — and every voice was heard. 💜

The younger pupils amazed us with their confidence and curiosity, eagerly asking and answering questions about body boundaries and respect. But it was in the upper classes where the impact deepened.

Despite initial shyness, the older pupils began opening up as we explored real and pressing questions:

🗣️ “Can a girl be blamed for being r**ed?”
🗣️ “Can someone I know r**e me?”
🗣️ “Can boys be r**ed too?”

These courageous young voices sparked raw, honest conversations — the kind that challenge myths, break stigma, and start healing.

We created a safe space where pupils could explore, learn, and understand the meaning of consent, trust, and personal safety. This is what true SRHR education looks like — empowering children to ask questions others are afraid to answer.

🙏🏾 A heartfelt thank you to Rescue Women – Cameroon (REWOCAM) for funding this transformative experience through the grant, and to our partners CHID and Breech Care for standing with us to ensure no child is left unheard.

Together, we're not just raising awareness — we're building a culture of respect, protection, and prevention.

📍 Catholic Primary School, Mile 16 – Where It All Began!

The EAR Campaign 2.0 kicked off with an unforgettable visit to Catholic Primary School, Mile 16 — and what a start it was! 💜

We were warmly received by the headmistress, who not only welcomed our team but gathered over 60 pupils from Classes 4 to 6 for a meaningful session on r**e prevention, consent, and child safety.

🎙️ "Can boys be r**ed?"
That one question sparked powerful dialogue among the pupils. Some debated, some reflected — and by the end of our session, all left with a clearer understanding of consent, respect, and the importance of speaking up.

To crown it all, the Parish Media Team was present to document the visit, helping to amplify our message far beyond the school walls. This kind of exposure is what builds a ripple effect of awareness in our communities.

This was more than a school visit — it was the start of a movement to break the silence, protect our children, and empower them with knowledge and voice. 💪🏾

✨ Special thanks to Rescue Women – Cameroon (REWOCAM) for the grant that made this project possible, and to our amazing partners, CHID and Breech Care, for their boots-on-the-ground support.
