Buying and using self-prescribed drugs may seem convenient, but it can also put your health at serious risk.

Self-medication leads to thousands of preventable hospitalizations and deaths each year – often from incorrect dosages, dangerous drug interactions, or delayed proper treatment. Many people don’t realize that even common medicines can cause severe harm when taken without medical guidance.

This is preventable through responsible actions such as:

👉 Consulting a qualified healthcare professional before taking any medication.

👉 Purchasing medicines only from licensed pharmacies with a valid prescription.

👉 Following the dosage and duration prescribed and never sharing medicines with others.

𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 – 28 Days of Activism

Day 8 marked another milestone in our campaign, as sensitization activities reached schools and communities across Kombo and Bomaka.

✅ School Sensitizations – 5 schools engaged (4 primary, 1 secondary), with interactive sessions on menstrual health and dignity.

✅ Community Dialogue – Focus Group Discussion with women in Kombo, amplifying voices and breaking stigma.

✅ Collaborative Facilitation – A team of 8 facilitators from Royalty World DIBA Holistic Wellness Care, FAWOI, Demtou, and Women Imparting Values for Development - Wivadev ensured diverse expertise and outreach.

For FAWOI and partners, these activities reinforce our shared commitment: empowering girls and women with knowledge, dignity, and confidence to manage menstruation safely. Each session builds momentum toward a culture of openness, respect, and support.

We remain grateful to all partners for their collaboration and dedication to the success of the 28 Days of Activism for MHM.

The final day focused on data protection, agreements, and ethical information-sharing protocols (ISP). Participants worked through scenarios that tested how reports move from field staff (HTS consultants, peer navigators, social service workers) directly into our data collection database and through case managers and protection officers, into FAWOI’s IMS database managed by the MEL team.

Key highlights included:
✅ Data protection & scenarios – ensuring survivor information is stored safely, whether in locked paper files or digital systems.
✅ Data agreements & ISP – clarifying responsibilities for reporting and sharing across organisations.
✅ Evaluation & wrap‑up – consolidating lessons and measuring progress through post‑tests.

For FAWOI, this training reinforced our already existing backbone of operations. With evaluations and wrap‑up completed, FAWOI and partners left equipped to transform field documentation into secure, standardised evidence that strengthens survivor‑centred protection across districts.

We remain grateful to UNFPA Cameroon and TeenAlive - Cameroon for their leadership in driving localised solutions. The GBVIMS training has strengthened our collective ability to ensure that no survivor’s voice is lost, and every report leads to action.

Day 4 of the GBVIMS Training in Limbe moved from review to technical mastery. Participants began with an outdoor recap game, taking turns to pass the ball to the next person, then advanced into:

✅ Reporting & Data Analysis – turning intake forms into clear statistics that guide protection decisions.

✅ Scenario Reviews – testing intake forms against real‑life cases to sharpen accuracy.

✅ Incident Recorder Practice – using the digital tool to ensure survivor data is stored safely and consistently.

✅ Hands‑on Intake Form Work – reinforcing precision in documentation.

For FAWOI and partners, these skills mean that survivor stories are no longer scattered or lost, but become structured evidence that drives coordinated action.

The presence of the UNFPA GBV National Coordinator and GBV AOR Coordinator NWSW underscored the ethical responsibility: technical tools must always serve survivor dignity, confidentiality, and safety.

This training is building the backbone of a localised, evidence‑based response system that ensures every survivor’s voice is heard and protected.

When data is clear and protected, survivors of violence get faster, better support, and no one is left behind.

Today we practised on the GBVIMS training led by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Cameroon and TeenAlive, the following:

✅ Asking for consent before writing someone’s story
✅ Filling intake forms and checking our answers
✅ Playing out real scenarios to learn better
✅ Understanding roles, places, and how information flows
✅ Using the incident recorder to keep stories safe

These help organisations like FAWOI and partners listen carefully, write correctly, and share safely.

These are invaluable to data management for the GBV Information systems reporting for survivor-centred support and real-time updates for the protection of vulnerable communities and advancing dignity, safety, and equitable access to services.
