Zesty Youths For Social and Economic Empowerment Our mission is to alleviate poverty through distributive thinking, purpose identification and transformational entrepreneurship skills.

• To encourage good practices towards water and sanitation, as a means to preserve community health.
• To fight hunger through the encouragement of improved sustainable agricultural practices within the marginalized communities.
• To improve social cohesion in the approach of rebuilding the crisis affected regions of Cameroon through the use of community based arts and sporting activities.

I was honored to represent our organization Zesty Youths For Social and Economic Empowerment during the 2025 LAUDATO SÌ celebration chaired by the Arch Bishop of Buea Diocese (Bibi Michael)

The focus is clearly on the interlinkage between environmental destruction, global warming and social inequality as joint products of a particular model of progress. So, quite obviously, not only the papal encyclical but also the follow-up convention confirmed the impression that the Catholic Church has put forth a fundamental critique of the dominant world economy, based on two arguments: its destructive impact on the natural environment (“Our Common Home”), its threat to the world climate in particular, and its production of massive social inequality. For ecological economists, nothing about this is particularly new. What is new though, I think, is that an institution accepted as religious and possibly moral authority by roughly one third of the world population, joins in on that interpretation, and sanctifies it.

Activities to commemorate the celebration include tree planting and practical workshops sessions on environmental protection.
