What began as a simple training session in Maroua is gradually becoming a meaningful movement of hope, leadership, and peacebuilding among young people.

On Saturday, 9th May, under the Classroom as a Vector for Peace initiative, our partners in Maroua successfully launched the Maroua phase of project activities through the establishment of the Peace Education Club at Lycée de Makabaye.

During the workshop, 16 students from different classes were trained and inducted as Peace Ambassadors, alongside three committed consultants, including the school principal and two facilitators, who will mentor and guide the club’s activities.

The sessions focused on peace education, responsible citizenship, conflict prevention, peaceful communication, tolerance, and social cohesion. Students actively participated and demonstrated a strong commitment to becoming agents of positive change in their school and community.

At the end of the workshop, certificates of participation were awarded to the students in recognition of their dedication and involvement.

This successful launch reminds us that peace begins in the classroom, grows through education, and spreads through empowered young leaders ready to make a difference.

Together, we continue building classrooms that inspire dialogue, understanding, and lasting peace.

This initiative is part of the Connected Cameroon Project of the Goethe-Institut Kamerun, supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.

During our recent session at GHS Bokwango, students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds came together in an inspiring moment of interaction, learning, and unity. Through discussions and activities centered on cultural diversity and peaceful coexistence, they demonstrated that despite our differences, peace can flourish when understanding and respect lead the way.

One powerful moment stood out.

Five students formed a tight circle, shoulder to shoulder, hands connected in a symbolic act of cohesion. In that simple formation, a deeper lesson unfolded — peace is not only taught, it is practiced.

Then came the moment that brought it all to life.

In one united voice, they broke the silence with a powerful declaration: “Let’s promote peace in the classroom!”

It was more than a chant. It was a reminder that every classroom can become more than a place of learning — it can become a vector of peace, where understanding replaces conflict and unity shapes every interaction.

This initiative is part of the Connected Cameroon project of the Goethe-Institut Kamerun, supported by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and implemented through our ongoing Classroom as a Vector of Peace activities by the Berine and Bokwe Foundation alongside other partners.

The messages on the cards are clear, and the determination on these students’ faces says even more.

They are choosing dialogue over violence, respect over division, and peace over conflict. This is the kind of leadership our communities need.

Together, we are building a culture of peace in Cameroon—starting from the classroom.

Yesterday marked an important milestone for us at the Berine and Bokwe Foundation as we officially launched our project, “The Classroom as a Vector for Peace,” at GHS Bokwango.

The launch brought together a vibrant group of over 30 students who actively participated in an engaging and interactive session focused on:
✨ Conflict management
✨ Addressing hate speech and bullying
✨ Promoting responsible use of social media

What stood out most during the session was the openness of the students—their willingness to share personal experiences, reflect, and learn from one another.

One of the highlights of the day was the series of student-led dramatic performances, where real-life conflict situations were acted out and resolved through peaceful intervention. These moments powerfully reminded us that violence is not the solution, but dialogue and understanding are.

We were also proud to officially launch a *Peace Club*, which will continue to serve as a safe space for students to promote non-violence and sustain the impact of this initiative within their school community.

We were delighted to have a representative from our partner, Sascam Save a Soul Cameroon, present during this activity, further strengthening our collective commitment to peacebuilding.

This initiative is part of the Connected Cameroon project of the Goethe-Institut Kamerun, supported by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At BEBOF, we remain committed to empowering young people, promoting inclusive education, and building a culture of peace—one classroom at a time.

This Thursday, our Project Lead, Beldin Tambe, represented the Berine and Bokwe Foundation in Bafoussam at the official launch of activities organized by our partner, "Save A Soul Cameroon".

The launch forms part of the broader joint project “The Classroom as a Vector for Peace,” supported by the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with the German Embassy in Cameroon, where partner organizations are implementing activities within their respective communities.

The session emphasized the powerful role of cultural heritage in fostering peace, unity, and social cohesion. Through creative artistic expressions and hands-on activities such as embroidery, participants explored how culture can serve as a tool for dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

Additional activities, including traditional cuisine, will continue in the coming days—further strengthening community bonds through shared experiences.

We are proud to stand alongside our partners in advancing initiatives that create spaces where peace is learned, practiced, and sustained. 🤝

As part of our ongoing project “The Classroom as a Vector for Peace,” supported by the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with the German Embassy, the Berine and Bokwe Foundation (BEBOF) has officially commenced its activities.

Our team carried out a stakeholder engagement visit to Government High School Bokwango, where we met with school authorities to present the project and initiate discussions toward the establishment of a Peace Club.

The session was both productive and encouraging, as the school administration warmly welcomed the initiative and expressed strong support for its implementation. This marks an important first step in creating a safe and inclusive space where students can learn, practice, and promote peaceful conflict resolution.

We are excited about the journey ahead and look forward to working closely with the school community to bring this vision to life.

Peace begins in the classroom—and grows through collaboration. 🕊️

As part of our joint project, “The Classroom as a Vector for Peace,” we are proud to spotlight the impactful work of our partner, the Association for Women and Girls in Deaf Culture (AWGDC), during their recent activity at Alliance Française Bamenda on 24th May.

” They explored how school-based youth clubs can institutionalize non-violence across Cameroon through:
🎭 Inspiring drama and dance performances
🗣️ Thought-provoking debates on conflict resolution
🤝 Dialogue and bridge-building sessions facilitated by partners

With sign language interpretation ensuring accessibility for all, the activity demonstrated that true peace is inclusive, participatory, and community-driven.

We commend the presence and support of key stakeholders including CUAPWD, HSUVI, and the Bamenda Amputee Team, alongside students, educators, and Deaf professionals whose engagement continues to strengthen this movement.

This initiative, supported under the Connected Camer(o/u)n Initiative and funded by the German Federal Foreign Office through Goethe-Institut Kamerun, reflects what we can achieve when partnerships are rooted in a shared vision.
We remain committed to working with our partners to empower young people and transform classrooms into spaces of peace, dialogue, and inclusion. 💙

We are excited to highlight another impactful activity under our joint project “The Classroom as a Vector for Peace,” supported by the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with the German Embassy.

Our partner, Xhuma Africa, recently carried out a key activity focused on promoting non-violent conflict resolution through the establishment of school-based peace clubs.

This initiative goes beyond the classroom as it is about shaping mindsets, nurturing dialogue and equipping young people with the skills to resolve conflicts peacefully. Through engaging students directly, the project is laying the foundation for a generation that values understanding, tolerance and coexistence.

🤝 Together with our consortium partners, we are creating safe and inclusive spaces where peace is not just a concept, but a daily practice.

Stay with us as we continue to showcase the inspiring work being done across all partner organizations.

As part of our consortium initiative supported by the Goethe-Institute in collaboration with the German Embassy, we are excited to highlight one of the first activities launched under this project Titled "The Classroom as a Vector for Peace: Institutionalizing Non-Violent Conflict Resolution and Cohesion Through School-Based Youth Clubs in Cameroon."

The Association for Women and Girls in Deaf Culture (AWGDC) officially kicked off their intervention with a powerful session centered on inclusion, participation, and peacebuilding.

With the theme “The Classroom as a Vector for Peace,” the activity emphasized a crucial message: peacebuilding must be inclusive, leaving no one behind. Deaf women and girls, whose voices are often unheard, were placed at the center of dialogue, expression, and action.

Through engaging discussions and a captivating cultural performance, the session reflected the power of inclusive spaces in shaping a more peaceful and equitable society.

👏🏾 We commend AWGDC for leading this impactful step and look forward to showcasing more activities from our partner organizations as we continue this journey together.
