LCDA, Milestone Foundation Back to School Outreach Programme Empowers Local Children in Mile 16, Bolifamba
On Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Mile 16, Bolifamba, Buea, Local Community Development Association (LCDA), in collaboration with the Milestone Foundation, launched a Back-toSchool outreach program aimed at promoting education among young children in the South West Region of Cameroon. This initiative provided essential learning materials such as bags, books, pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, and sharpeners to underprivileged pupils who have been affected by the ongoing crisis in the region. Representing LCDA, Mme Flaure Wafo thanked the parents for their interest in ensuring access to education for their children despite the many challenges they face. She encouraged them to prioritize their kids’ education, as it is key to their success. On his part, Mr. Valentine Mbakwa, while representing the Milestone Foundation, emphasized the need for home supervision, as even small efforts can significantly enhance children's academic performance and overall development. For their part, the parents of the beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude for the support, describing the initiative as both timely and impactful. They pledged to keep their children focused on their studies and appealed for continued assistance in the Mile 16, Bolifamba community. According to Mr. Bokwe Otto, these donations have come at an opportune time when meeting the basic needs of his children is almost impossible. “I have four kids, and it is so difficult for me to provide all their school needs with the very limited resources I have, as my farm is no longer very productive. These school items have come to relieve me of some of the burden. I would now struggle to get the fees,” Mr. Bokwe added. It should be noted that this program was organized within the framework of LCDA’s educational program, which aims to ensure maximum access to quality education. This activity is therefore the first phase of a series of initiatives to enable vulnerable children to access their right to quality education. Founded in 2006, the Local Community Development Association remains committed to ensuring that every child has access to quality education.
