Women for Environment > WOMEV < joined the rest of the world today to commemorate the
First, We say a big congrats and courage to all those [ Humanitarians ] who take the front line second after second, day after day as the years go by and tragedies keep striking the surface of the earth, putting their lives on the line just to save other lives. This day we stand still for a moment in memory of those who were to celebrate with us but are not able to do so because in the line of duty they had to depart suddenly for trying to save lives. May their gentle souls Rest In Peace.
WOMEV was an active partner as the International Humanitarian Day was celebrated today in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon under the theme
an occasion where the efforts and sacrifices of Humanitarians all over the world are heavily recognised and applauded.
The strength, courage and success of Humanitarians is deeply rooted in unity and togetherness, reasons why the celebration in Buea brought together partners and colleagues in the Humanitarian family from different organisations in a moment that was full of fun with activities like Tug of Peace, drama, egg race, bag race and football. It was also a time we shared some of the challenges faced in the field and strategies used to overcome them. A powerful session of Questions and answers also iced the celebration not leaving out the exhibitions from some of the organisations present. celebration in Buea was a time to learn and unlearn, a time to connect and be connected with, a time to experience the force and power unity carries. The WOMEV team was an active participant and a present actor, taking part in every slot of the activities. It was a big win to the Humanitarian community

Water is life. Water is a health booster because it is number one medicine. Water is a super need in our life as well as in our
day to day activities. But when water is unclean it posses a lot of negativities in the human system especially with our health. It becomes a hazard. More dangerous is the water we drink directly. Good drinking water has modalities to follow on order to guaranty its safety. Research and Development Without Borders ( RDWB ) on Thursday the 31st of July and Friday the 1st of August, organised a 2 days workshop on Household Water Treatment and Safe Satorage ( HWTS ) at the Unicef head office in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon.Water can be contaminated at every stage from the source, transportation, storage and drinking. But Treatment is possible and there are different ways of treatment accessible by everybody irrespective of class of people and financial. Women for Environment ( WOMEV ) had the privilege to highly be a part in this workshop and has been empowered with the steps, methods and safe storage systems with regards to Household drinking water and safe storage. We are now ready for our communities.

WOMEV ( Women for Environment ) was actively present and participated in a Disability Inclusion Workshop.
A two-days workshop which focused on disability inclusion, from the 19th - 20th of June 2025 with theme: "Mainstreaming Disability in Humanitarian Action." aimed at enhancing the capacity of some selected local organizations and educators within the in Buea Municipality, organized by Revival Action Cameroon, with little support from WOMEV, financed by PCC-PCRS Kumba and CBM.
During the conference, participants gained valuable insights into the distinction between impairment and disability. It was emphasized that impairment only leads to disability when barriers are present. These barriers can be attitudinal, institutional, environmental, and communication. The workshop addressed various types of impairments, including hearing, speech, mobility, and cognitive impairments. Different disability models were discussed, such as the Charity Model, Medical Model, Social Model, and Rights-Based Model.
The Inter-Agency Standards Committee ( IASC ) guidelines were introduced, as well as the four essential actions to take in disability inclusion. Participants also learned various methods of data collection and analysis like the Washington Group on the
Standardized Questions (WGSSQS), which provides standardized questionnaire regarding disability. It was an honour for WOMEV to have been part of this workshop and we express our gratitude to the sponsors and REVACAM for bringing us a step closer .

Every single moment opportunities get to us which we can use and create a positive impact in our world today. Because of one reason or the other, a child is being sent to the street either deliberately or forced by some conditions the world puts before them. They become vulnerable because the wickedness of the world makes it so. Most of them don't know what life is and can't understand why they are the way they are. Anytime we take one child out of the street we make the world better and anytime one child is being educated, we secure their future and give life to a generation through them. Join WOMEV as we carry out our operation BACK TO SCHOOL by making sure we take these children out of the streets in to the classrooms. As we give IDPs hope again. One pen, pencil, pair of uniform, school shoes, school bags etc. Any that you can afford will change the life and destiny of a child.Together we van do it. Visit the flyer below

World Environment Day in 2025 focused on ending plastic pollution. The Republic of Korea hosted the global celebrations.

For decades, plastic pollution has seeped into every corner of the world, leaching into the water we drink, into the food we eat, and our bodies. While plastic pollution is a major concern, it is also one of the most fixable of today’s environmental challenges, with some obvious solutions at hand.

World Environment Day joined the UNEP-led in 2025 to mobilize communities worldwide to implement and advocate for solutions. World Environment Day spotlighted the growing scientific evidence on the impacts of plastic pollution and drove momentum to refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, and rethink plastics use. It also reinforced the global commitment made in 2022 to end plastic pollution through a global plastic pollution treaty.
In Cameroon WOMEV was a key partner in collaboration with the delegation of environment in the South West Region of Cameroon in the fight against plastic pollution.

Drinking water is life but how safe is it. So giving access to safe drinking water to the community is of very great importance as well.It was a great privilege, pleasure and honour for WOMEV to have been represented and to have successfully complete a four days workshop on Drinking Water Quality Testing (QWQT) training for Humanitatian actors, Development actors and WASH Practitionals organised by UNICEF CAMEROON, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT WITHOUT BORDERS and CAWST. WOMEV deeply appreciate the organisers for the opportunity to gain more knowledge and technical skills in Water Testing and Treatment. Thanks for providing a platform for collaboration with other partners especially those from the South West and North West Regions. This training will help us go a long way in improving and providing access to safe drinking water in our communities
