INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATION.
International Youth Day Celebration is observed annually on August 12 ,to celebrate the potential of young people, raise awareness of global youth challenges and advocates for their meaningful involvement in society.
The International Youth Day Celebration was endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly on December 1999 following a recommendation from the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youths.
The International Youth Day of this year is celebrated under the theme, "Different Contexts ,Common Aspirations." The International Youth Day also have core themes and focus like Global Solidarity, Shared Challenges, Youths Innovation, Vulnerable Regions.
Cameroon just like any other country, is celebrating this day through the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education which create and carries out government plans for youth empowerment, civic training, national unity, and social integration. In this context , we celebrate young aspiring Cameroonians who are impacting the society with their incredible potentials like METAL LORDS , which is a team of young Cameroonian innovators from Bamenda in the North West Region of the Republic of Cameroon.
We also have young innovators from the ICT University , with special acknowledgement to the Agribot team which took first prize at the 2026 edition of the ICT for Africa Summit and Tech Innovation Challenge wrapped up on August 6,2026 at ICT University.
We move to the Oroko Nation , where many aspiring Oroko youths are making great achievements in the transformation of our society through their Peace Building Initiatives, Cultural Preservation , Humanitarian Assistance, and the Promotion of an Oroko Man to a Higher Level.
Youths like Lokendo' s talent , who hails from Meme Division of the South West Region, is making sure that the Oroko cultural heritage in dancing is alive and respected worldwide. Don Lary Wa Motoko , who hails from Ndian Division but lives in UK, is also doing his best to see that Oroko education doesn't end in Cameroon, as he has been helping Oroko students to gain admissions in prestigious universities in UK and other countries abroad. We also have Guatland Motoko, who hails from Ikoi Ngolo in Ndian Division, is also a vibrant Oroko youth who has come up with a special app known as "Etana Oroko connect". This app is expected to be launched on October 1st 2026.
We have youths like Iya Lydia Bekari , Ndinga Marvingaye, Sakwe Javis, Elvis Sakwe , Lady Kate, Betondijames Mukete , Tata Paolo, Micheline Mich , Lady Amome(Olivia), Luxe Lobe , Alva , Phillbill , and many others, are championing the Oroko cultural heritage on music.
The Oroko Community would always give special recognition to youths like Melvis Mofa , Sir Manga , Iya Dialle , Ngoe Malike , and many others, through their efforts in making the Oroko language become known and gain international recognition. The Oroko people are blessed to have youths like Bato Moto , Enow Mukete , and many others, their works on Facebook and other social medias are worthy to be appreciated, as they are endlessly putting all efforts to see that the Oroko cultural values are documented and gain international recognition.
We respect Peace Builders of Oroko Land. Peace Builders like Chief Nofuruh Disombe of Nake Bokoko in Meme Division. Chief Nofuru Ivens Disombe is the secretary general of the Meme Chiefs Conference (MECCO),and also the Assistant Financial Secretary of the Southwest Chiefs Conference (SWECC).He is widely known for mediating conflicts and helping guide misled or armed youths to drop their weapons and report to disarmament centers in North West and Southwest Regions. He was awarded as "Peace and Community Development Icon" by the Cameroon English Language News Paper Publishers Association (CENPA).
