Economic empowerment changes lives in simple but powerful ways. It gives women the chance to learn new skills, earn an income, support their families, and believe in themselves again.

Through training in the production of pastries, many women are discovering their strength, growing in confidence, and using these skills to earn income for themselves and their families.

When women are empowered economically, families become stronger and communities grow stronger too.

At YEARN, we are happy to walk alongside women as they rise, rebuild, and Excel.

This week, our voices went beyond borders reaching homes, hearts, and communities through our radio program under the project “Strengthening Resilience and Livelihoods of Conflict-Affected Women Survivors of GBV.

Through this powerful platform, we are speaking up for women and girls whose stories are often unheard. We are raising awareness on Gender-Based Violence, challenging harmful norms, and reminding our communities that silence is not protection but speaking out is power.

During this radio program we discussed the following:
- What GBV is and how it affects individuals and families
- The importance of supporting survivors—not blaming them
- How communities, especially men and leaders, can be part of the solution
- Where survivors can seek help and support

This is more than a radio talk. It is a movement to restore dignity, promote healing, and build safer communities. Every message shared is a step closer to ending stigma and creating a culture of protection and respect.

This is possible with support from the international Leading Well Network.

Together, let us continue to raise our voices until every woman and girl lives free from violence.

On the 4th of February, Youth Empowerment and Resilience Network (YEARN) successfully convened a Project Stakeholders Engagement Meeting in Bambili, Tubah Sub-division, as part of our project focused on strengthening the resilience and livelihoods of conflict-affected women survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The meeting brought together community leaders, Stakeholders, and administrative representatives to deepen understanding of GBV, including its causes, forms, and consequences, while exploring the critical roles that community actors play in preventing and responding to Gender Based Violence.

Key discussions focused on:

• The role of community stakeholders in addressing GBV
• Existing community mechanisms for prevention and response
• Collaborative strategies to support survivors
• Development of action points and commitments for community engagement

The meeting concluded with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to supporting community-led efforts to combat GBV and promote safer environments for women and girls.
This project is made possible with support from the International Leading Well Network .YEARN remains dedicated to empowering communities, strengthening local systems, and advancing the protection and dignity of women and girls affected by conflict and violence.

This February, YEARN launched a new initiative dedicated to supporting survivors of Gender-Based Violence in our community.

Through this project, we aim to create a safe and empowering environment where women can access support, build new skills, and strengthen their resilience. The initiative focuses on empowerment, capacity building, and community engagement to help survivors rebuild confidence and pursue sustainable opportunities.

Gender-Based Violence continues to affect many women and girls especially in conflict affected zones, and initiatives like this are essential in promoting healing, dignity, and long-term empowerment.

We are grateful to our partner Leading Well Network whose commitment makes this work possible. Together, we look forward to making a meaningful impact and contributing to safer and more supportive communities.
