Peace can start with something as simple as listening, understanding each other, and choosing to talk things through instead of creating more division.

We may not change everything at once, but we can start with our own actions.

Today, Youth Empowerment And Resilience Network joined the people of the North West Region to say NO to Femicide.
Every woman and every girl has the right to live free from fear, violence, and abuse. We must not remain silent while lives are lost to preventable acts of violence.

Ending femicide starts with speaking up, supporting survivors, holding perpetrators accountable, and promoting respect, equality, and justice in our homes and communities.
Together, let us end all forms of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. The time to act is now.

What really happened during this holiday?

It was more than just a break from school.

It was an opportunity to work, learn, serve, and grow.

YEARN was equally present during a holiday activity focused on environmental cleanliness, job creation, and leadership development.

Participants were able to contribute to keeping their community clean while gaining practical experience, earning an income, and using their holiday in a meaningful way.

During the one-month engagement, young people were impacted with knowledge on leadership and community responsibility, while generating income so as to help youths support their parents and guardians and reduce idleness.

At the end of the activity, certificates were issued to recognize their commitment and participation.

For YEARN, being part of this activity was another opportunity to connect, support, and promote the importance of leadership, responsibility, and community development.

Sometimes, a simple opportunity can make a real difference.

A meaningful holiday. A cleaner community. Better opportunities.

Sometimes, all it takes is one safe space for a young person to speak, ask questions, and be heard.

Over the past days, young girls came together through YEARN – Youth Empowerment and Resilience Network for an open conversation on Gender-Based Violence, personal hygiene, sexual and reproductive health, and mental well-being.

It was more than just a workshop. It was a moment to learn, share experiences, ask questions, and talk about some of the real challenges young people face today.

Gender-Based Violence is not only about physical abuse. It can also be sexual, psychological, or economic, and can take different forms such as r**e, sexual harassment, economic abuse, FGM, forced child marriage, and human trafficking. The effects can be serious, affecting a person's health, confidence, mental well-being, and even their life.

This is why these conversations are important. Sometimes, having the right information can help someone recognize a harmful situation, speak up, seek support, or even help another person.

We also talked about health and well-being, because taking care of ourselves goes beyond just our physical health. Personal hygiene, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health are all important parts of living a healthy and fulfilling life.

At YEARN, we believe in creating spaces where young people can learn, speak freely, ask questions, and grow with confidence.

One conversation may look small, but it can make a real difference.

This was more than a workshop. It was a step towards building healthier, safer, and more empowered young people.

And honestly, this is just the beginning.

They were told to hide.
To hide their pain, their fears and their voice.
That no one would hear them, even if they screamed at the top of their voices.

And then came YEARN.
They never had to scream to heard, because YEARN goes in search of people like them, giving them reasons to believe tomorrow can be different.

Somewhere, someone is waiting for a miracle, and sometimes, a miracle can just mean someone willing to listen.

Over the past several months, Youth Empowerment And Resilience Network (YEARN) has had the privilege of walking alongside courageous survivors of gender-based violence as they rebuilt confidence, acquired practical livelihood skills, and took meaningful steps toward economic independence.

The project was not just about training. It was about restoring hope, rebuilding dignity, and creating opportunities for survivors to heal, thrive, and lead productive lives.

Through psychosocial support, pastry production and entrepreneurship training, mentorship, and business development sessions, we witnessed remarkable transformation.

This impact would not have been possible without the generous support of the International Leading Well Network that continues to support Community Solutions Program alumni. We sincerely thank the International Leading Well Network for believing in YEARN's vision and for investing in locally led solutions that create lasting change.

We are equally grateful to our facilitators, volunteers, community leaders, and partners and everyone who showed up during the summit to listen and support. Your dedication made this journey possible. Above all, we celebrate the incredible women who embraced this opportunity with courage, determination, and resilience. You are the true inspiration behind this success.

While this project has come to an end, its impact will continue to live on through the businesses established, the confidence restored, the skills gained, and the stronger support networks created.

At YEARN, we remain committed to building communities where every survivor has the opportunity not only to recover, but to thrive.
