The Director General of MIDENO and some staff have just completed a 4 days working visit to the South West Development Authority (SOWEDA) in Buea.
The visit began with a warm welcome dinner hosted by the Director General of SOWEDA, DR. BESONG NTUI OGORK, Tuesday evening.
In his welcome address, the DG of SOWEDA said it was a moment of joy for SOWEDA to finally host MIDENO for a week. He went further to say the visit is an opportunity for both sister Institutions to compare notes and share experiences as far as operating in crisis situations is concerned.
The DG of MIDENO on his part reflected on the longstanding relationship between the two institutions, from the proposed 2005 Memorandum of Understanding and the 2011 working session to SOWEDA’s 2015 exchange visit to MIDENO. He hoped the 2026 visit would open a new chapter of practical, structured cooperation.
The exchange provided an opportunity to share institutional knowledge and consider collaboration in areas including project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, agricultural infrastructure, mechanisation, community engagement and institutional strengthening.
MIDENO expressed appreciation to SOWEDA’s management and staff for their warm reception and spirit of openness.
Some highlights of the visit included a visit to some intervention areas of SOWEDA in the South West Region, SOWEDAs operations at the Administrative Garage, visit to some field realizations in fishery, livestock and agriculture, among others.
The visit rounded up Friday with a visit to the slave village in Bimbia Limbe, and exchange of souvenir gifts between both institutions.
As MIDENO staff departed on Saturday, both institutions looked ahead to turning discussions into concrete actions, with clear responsibilities and followup.
It is hoped that the renewed partnership contributes to stronger rural development and better outcomes for the people of the North West and South West Regions.
