Youths and the Future, in Partnership with GIZ, Delivers Livelihood Equipment to Njibeh Community, Bafut

Bafut, North West Region
– One of the beneficiary communities of the Livelihoods Project, Njibeh in Bafut has received its allocated equipment under the initiative implemented by Youths and the Futurein collaboration with its partner GIZ

The delivery and installation of the equipment were recently completed in Njibeh community.

This marks a key step in the 1-year project aimed at supporting vulnerable households, empowering women, and increasing income for local families.

The Livelihoods Project focuses on strengthening community resilience through practical support for agriculture, processing, and income-generating activities. For Njibeh, the newly installed equipment is expected to reduce post-harvest losses, improve production capacity, and create sustainable income opportunities for youth and women in the area.

Speaking on the development, project coordinators noted that the partnership with GIZ is central to ensuring communities like Njibeh have access to the tools and training needed to build long-term economic independence.

With equipment now operational in Njibeh, Youths and the Future reaffirms its commitment to expanding impact across Bafut communities through skills training, market access, and value addition.

Njimbee Community Receives Corn Threshing Machine to Boost Post-Harvest Processing

Bafut, North West Region– Farmers in Njibeh community, Bafut have received a corn threshing machine under the Livelihoods Project implemented by Youths and the Future in collaboration with GIZ

The equipment was delivered and installed in the community to support farmers during the post-harvest season
With the new machine, members of Njibeh can now thresh their maize more efficiently after harvest, reducing manual labor, saving time, and minimizing grain loss.

Post-harvest losses have long been a challenge for smallholder farmers in the region. The introduction of mechanized threshing is expected to help Njibeh farmers preserve more of their yield, improve grain quality, and increase income from their harvest.

This support is part of a 1-year project aimed at strengthening food security and building sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable households, youth, and women in Bafut. The project has already supported the cultivation of 10 hectares of maize across Njibeh and Mfotaa communities, and the threshing machine adds a critical layer to the value chain.

Through partnerships like this, Youths and the Future and GIZ are working to equip rural communities with practical tools that transition agriculture from subsistence to productivity.

_The Livelihoods Project continues to roll out equipment and training across beneficiary communities in Bafut._

Njimbee Quarter Head Applauds Support for Ongoing Agricultural Project

Bafut, North West Region Following the delivery and installation of a corn threshing machine by Youths and the Future in partnership with GIZ the Quarter Head of Njibeh community, Bafut has expressed appreciation for the support being provided to local farmers.

The equipment was handed over to the community to ease post-harvest processing of maize cultivated under the Livelihoods Project. The project has already supported the planting of 10 hectares of maize in Njibeh and Mfotaa, with a focus on increasing farmer income and reducing post-harvest losses.

Speaking shortly after receiving the machine, the Quarter Head of Njibeh said:

We are grateful to Youths and the Future and GIZ for remembering Njibeh. For years our farmers have lost time and grain trying to thresh corn manually after harvest. This machine will save labor, protect our yield, and give our women and youth more strength to expand their farms. We promise to take good care of it and use it for the benefit of the whole community.”_

The Quarter Head further noted that the support comes at a critical time as farmers in Njibeh move from harvest to storage. He called on other partners and well-wishers to invest in rural communities, adding that tools like the threshing machine directly improve household income and food security.

Youths and the Future, through the Livelihoods Project, continues to equip beneficiary communities in Bafut with practical tools and training to strengthen resilience and transition from subsistence to productive agriculture.

Bafut Communities Receive Tricycle to Ease Maize Transportation and Reduce Post-Harvest Losses

Bafut, North West Region The *Bafut community has received a tricycle to support maize transportation under the Livelihoods Project implemented by Youths and the Future in collaboration with GIZ.

The tricycle was delivered to serve Njibeh and Mfotaa the two communities involved in maize production and storage under the project. Its primary role will be to facilitate the movement of harvested maize from farms to designated storage and processing locations, reducing manual labor and transportation costs for farmers.

With 10 hectares of maize cultivated across Njibeh and Mfotaa timely evacuation of produce after harvest is critical to preserving yield and quality. The new tricycle is expected to address one of the major post-harvest challenges faced by smallholder farmers in the area: moving bulky produce from remote farms to market or storage points.

This support complements earlier interventions in Njibeh, including a corn threshing machine and office furniture and equipment, all aimed at strengthening the entire value chain from production to storage and management.

Project coordinators noted that efficient transport is a key pillar of the Livelihoods Project’s 1-year strategy to increase farmer income by 20% and build resilience among vulnerable households, youth, and women.

Community leaders from Njibeh and Mfotaa welcomed the tricycle and pledged to ensure it is properly maintained and used for the collective benefit of both communities.

_The Livelihoods Project continues to roll out practical solutions across Bafut to improve productivity, reduce losses, and create sustainable livelihoods.
