Today, my heart is filled with deep gratitude and renewed purpose.

I sincerely thank Breaking News Bilingue for the recognition and for taking the time to highlight my work and journey. Being featured in your publication is not just an honor it is a powerful reminder that the work we do to uplift others is seen, valued and impactful.

I am Ekembe Mirabel Achebi, a Gender and Development professional, Founder of Goodwill Ambassadors of Hope (GWAH) Cameroon and a passionate advocate for the rights, dignity and empowerment of women and girls. My journey has never been about personal recognition, but about amplifying voices that are often unheard, challenging injustices and creating spaces where women can lead, thrive and shape their own futures.

This recognition strengthens my resolve to continue working with resilience, courage and compassion especially in conflict affected and underserved communities where hope is needed the most.

I envision a world where:
Every woman has access to opportunities
Every girl can dream without limitations
Every community upholds dignity, equality and justice

To every woman and young girl who refuses to give up this is for you.
To every partner, mentor and supporter thank you for believing in this vision.

The journey continues… and I remain committed now more than ever.

With gratitude πŸ™
Ekembe Mirabel Achebi

GBV CafΓ© | 2025

GWAH as a member of NEWOLEC joined the global 16 Days of Activism campaign, held on 13 December 2025 in YaoundΓ©, under the theme β€œEnd Digital Violence Against Women and Girls.”

Women leaders discussed rising forms of technology-facilitated GBV, including cyberbullying, online threats, hate speech, non-consensual sharing of images, online stalking, and digital blackmail. Early warning signs such as intimidation, gaslighting, emotional abuse, financial control, and physical violence were highlighted.

Key legal frameworks referenced included CEDAW, the Maputo Protocol, the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the Cameroon Penal Code, and the Beijing Platform for Action. Participants also shared guidance on managing GBV cases using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Recommendations emphasized closing policy gaps on online violence, strengthening GBV reporting and survivor support services, building capacity in digital activism, ensuring safe digital spaces centered on women’s consent, and improving case documentation.

This session was facilitated by Dr Swirri Tumasang Solange, General Coordinator of NEWOLEC and Mrs our Executive Director Mbacham Mirabel CEO of GWAH Cameroon.

Technology should empower not harm.
Every woman deserves safety. We must move from making statements to interventions!

work provokes more work. Upon arrival into the country from the African Girls summit , our Executive Director join young peace advocates and stakeholders at Yahoort hotel in the National youth forum for peace organised by MDDT where she was given the opportunity to share her experiences and motivation for her journey in peace building ,listen to others experiences and perspectives in peace building
In her brief report from this symposium she vividly reveal to us that she was motivated by the statement of the coordinator of civic peace service at GIZ madam Paul Ouzon who declared that we must engage in responsible dialogue to achieve sustainable peace and civic participation, she explained that dialogue is not just about exchange of opinions but the ability to fit ourselves in others situations even when we don’t agree with them . We believe that when young come together, share ideas, knowledge and experiences in their individual works it helps effectively in shaping sustainable peace .
We recognise the great job of the MDDT, the organizers of this symposium in promoting Youth advocacy on civic Rights and Enhancing Youth participation in elections. Their massive mobilisation of youth across the ten regions in initiatives that promote a culture of peace can not be undermined. We look forward to partnership opportunities with you .
