The Executive Director of our organization is thrilled and honoured as a cultural heritage professional to have been one of the facilitators of a 3-day workshop for traditional rulers in the North West Region of Cameroon on cultural heritage management and preservation. The capacity building workshop was organized by the Northwest Regional Assembly. Some key thematic areas or modules handled included legal and administrative frameworks for traditional leadership, organizing cultural and traditional events, historical sites and monuments: identifying, preserving and restoring, codifying traditional protocol in palaces and public events, collecting and documenting oral traditions, resource mobilization and fundraising for traditional institutions, peer networking and institutional collaboration. It was indeed an enriching and engaging experience for the participants greatly impacted by the ongoing Cameroon Anglophone armed conflict.

OCOTONAP is committed to the raising of awareness and prevention of natural disasters in Cameroon which are a growing phenomenon in the North West and West Regions of the country. Our hearts again go to all the people who have lost dear ones in the Dschang hill massive landslide that occurred on November 5, 2024 in the West Region. While several persons and vehicles remain buried under the ruble, 12 liveless bodies have been retrieved. This comes at the heels of the Chomba
massive landslide in the North West Region.
