🌍✋🏾 Africa’s Children Deserve Safety – Online AND Offline!

Every click, every upload, every share... our children are more connected than ever. But with that connection comes *a silent and growing threat* — *Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA)*.

This is not just a digital issue. It’s a *human issue*, and *Africa cannot stay silent*.

Too many children are falling victim to predators hiding behind screens. Too many families are suffering in silence. The time to ACT is *NOW*.

We need *ALL HANDS ON DECK*:
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents and caregivers — talk to your children.
🧑🏽‍🏫 Teachers — teach online safety like you teach math.
🌍 Communities — protect and report abuse.
🏛 Governments — strengthen laws and enforcement.

We need to talk about digital abuse. It's more than just "mean comments." It's the use of technology to stalk, harass, and intimidate women and girls.

This includes terrifying trends like:

"Revenge p**n" or the non-consensual sharing of intimate images.

Cyberbullying and trolling.

AI-generated deepfakes used to create fake p**nography.

Doxxing (publishing private info) and online stalking.

Hate speech and misogynistic networks.

These acts are forms of violence. They spill over into real life, leading to stalking, physical abuse, and in the worst cases, femicide. The harm is profound and long-lasting.

We all have a role to play. Learn the signs. Share this information with your friends and family. And most importantly, demand that tech companies and lawmakers do more to protect women and girls online. .

The future and aspirations of millions of African children and youths are at risk if we don’t act now. From harmful content to online exploitation, *eSafety is no longer optional—it’s urgent*.

*Protecting children online is a shared responsibility.* Parents, caregivers, educators, governments, tech platforms, and communities—we all have a role to play.

Let’s raise our voices. Let’s strengthen digital protections. Let’s make the internet a safer space for Africa’s next generation.

Child safety doesn't stop at your front door. In our community, we look out for each other's children. If you see a child in your neighborhood who seems distressed, withdrawn, or is receiving unexplained gifts from an adult, it's okay to gently ask their parents. A community that talks is a safer community. Let's be a network of watchful eyes.

Without data it is impossible to assess the degree or extent to which women and girls are being exploited. Neither is it possible to propose victim centered approaches to addressing or mitigating their vulnerabilities to violence. ACESWorld helps community and grassroots organizations in the global South to bridge the gaps to collect data that would permit them to craft results based projects that will offer women and girls the opportunity to revert their conditions and to lead fulfilling and thriving lives.
