For five years, Anyajua Integrated Health Center served more than 10,500 people without reliable electricity.

In the hills of Boyo Division, this health center is the first—and often only—point of care for thousands of families.

Yet for years, healthcare workers delivered essential services under one major constraint: the absence of reliable electricity.

Without power, vaccines could not be safely stored, critical diagnostic equipment could not be fully utilized, and families often traveled over 10 km to Fundong, spending 4,000–5,000 XAF on transport to access healthcare that should have been available in their own community.

For the 15–20 expectant mothers who visit the facility each month for antenatal care and delivery, every night brought uncertainty. Would there be enough light? Would essential equipment be available if complications arose?

Today, that reality is changing.

CAASDEV has installed a 5 kVA solar photovoltaic system, restoring reliable, clean electricity to power an echography machine, biochemistry analyser, vaccine refrigerator, microscope, 30 lighting points, a laptop, and a television—more than 6,045 watts of essential medical equipment.

This transformation was led by six young technicians trained through CAASDEV's Solar Bright Future Youth Green Skills Program, demonstrating how investments in youth skills can strengthen health systems and transform communities. To ensure long-term sustainability, four community members were trained to operate and maintain the system before it was officially handed over to the Head of the Health Center.

At CAASDEV, we believe energy is not a luxury for healthcare—it is a necessity.

Reliable electricity means safer childbirth.

Reliable electricity means life-saving vaccines remain effective.

Reliable electricity means healthcare workers can provide the quality care every family deserves.

Anyajua's story is one of hope. But across Cameroon, many rural health facilities are still waiting for the same

This week, CAASDEV participated in a series of strategic engagements with Prof. Patrick Okori, Executive Secretary of RUFORUM, and partners of the TAGDev 2.0 Programme, a transformative initiative funded by the Mastercard Foundation, at the University of Bamenda.

The engagements showcased a growing ecosystem of opportunity—from fully funded scholarships for over 54 vulnerable students to the University of Bamenda Technology Innovation and Incubation Centre (UBATIIC), which supports students and out-of-school youth in transforming innovative ideas into sustainable, investment-ready businesses.

As a proud TAGDev partner, CAASDEV is translating this collaboration into measurable impact. Over the past year, we have: • Empowered 971 graduates and out-of-school youth with employability and entrepreneurship skills through our 30-Day Opportunity Plan. • Trained 30 young climate leaders to develop innovative climate solutions for their communities. • Expanded access to mentorship, career development, and innovation opportunities for young people in the North West Region.

Beyond programme delivery, TAGDev will be strengthening CAASDEV's institutional capacity in governance, financial management, safeguarding, gender inclusion, communications, and branding—laying the foundation for greater impact and long-term sustainability.

At CAASDEV, we believe that lasting change happens when universities, local organizations, development partners, and the private sector work together to invest in the potential of young people.
We look forward to expanding partnerships that equip youth not only to access opportunities, but to create them.

𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟭50 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗱.

Yet many of them already hold HNDs, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees.

This was one of the most striking realities that emerged during the TAGDev 2.0 Employability & Workforce Readiness Workshop, where CAASDEV joined partners in engaging 200 selected young people on employability, personal branding, entrepreneurship, and opportunity search.

The numbers tell a powerful story:

- 150 participants are currently unemployed

- 143 participants hold HNDs, Bachelor's, or Master's degrees

- 76 participants do not yet have a professional CV

Entrepreneurship, employment, and skills development were the most sought-after areas of support

These figures remind us that the challenge facing many young people today is not simply a lack of education.

The challenge is bridging the gap between qualifications and opportunities.

During the workshop, participants explored practical strategies to:

✅ Develop a professional CV
✅ Build a strong personal brand
✅ How to search for opportunities
✅ Increase their professional visibility

✅ Strengthen their digital presence

✅ Access jobs, internships, scholarships, fellowships, and entrepreneurship opportunities

✅ Expand their professional networks

One message resonated strongly throughout the discussions:

Being qualified gets you prepared. Being visible gets you noticed. Being proactive creates opportunities.

As CAASDEV, we remain committed to supporting young people with the skills, networks, and pathways they need to transition successfully into employment, entrepreneTAGDev 2.0 UBaadership.

We are grateful to TAGDev 2.0 UBa , SOPISDEW, MASTERCARD, RUFORUM and all partners whose commitment continues to create opportunities for the next generation.

Because talent is everywhere, the opportunity should be too.
