At first, it was just a plastic bag. Then a bottle. A diaper. Each seemed too small to matter, and we trusted the rain to wash them away. Until the gutters clogged, the water rose, and the consequences became impossible to ignore. From flooding in Limbe to destructive runoff in Bamenda, the message is clear: heavy downpours may be natural, but many flood-related tragedies are preventable. What we throw into gutters eventually finds its way into our streets, homes and rivers. Stop blocking the gutters. The river is not your dumpsite.
Everyone has a role to play.
