Green Partners Association (GPA) joined UNICEF and other partners for the ECHO 2 Project Review and Strategic Planning Workshop, reflecting on achievements, lessons learned, challenges and priorities for the next phase. GPA contributed to discussions on Education in Emergencies, Radio Education, Child Protection, disability inclusion, PSEA and accountability to affected populations, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that crisis-affected children are protected, included and able to access essential services.

GPA appreciates UNICEF and the European Union for their continuous support and commitment to improving the lives of children and communities in the North-West and South-West regions of Cameroon.

In Tugi community, Mbengwi Subdivision, Momo Division, NWR Cameroon, community engagement is paving the way for the introduction of the Radio Education Programme, creating renewed opportunities for children who have been out of school due to the ongoing crisis.

The engagement brought together community members, parents, caregivers and other key stakeholders to discuss the programme, its importance and how the community can support children to participate. For many families, insecurity, limited access to schools and economic hardship have made education increasingly difficult. The radio education programme offers an alternative pathway for children to reconnect with learning within their communities.

The excitement among children and families is a powerful reminder that the desire to learn remains strong, even in challenging circumstances. Through collaboration with communities, education partners continue to explore innovative ways to ensure that children are not left behind.

In Furu-Awa, the introduction of the radio education programme is bringing renewed hope to children who have been out of school. Many children are excited about the opportunity to return to learning, despite the challenges that have kept them away.

For families affected by the crisis and an area constrained by insecurity and geographical isolation, this programme offers a much-needed pathway back to education. The excitement on the children’s faces is a reminder that every child wants to learn and every child deserves that opportunity.

Recently, Green Partners Association (GPA) participated in the Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) Capacity-Building Retreat organized by OCHA, bringing together humanitarian actors from crisis-affected regions of Cameroon to strengthen accountability and community engagement in humanitarian programming. The retreat provided a valuable platform for participants to review progress, share experiences, and identify practical strategies for ensuring that affected communities remain at the centre of humanitarian action.

Key discussions focused on reviewing and adopting recommendations from the AAP Perception Survey, strengthening AAP coordination and leadership structures, reinforcing linkages between Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and validating the 2026/2027 AAP Work Plan. Participants also identified technical and operational capacity gaps, developed priorities for future capacity-building, and explored ways to strengthen joint Complaint and Feedback Mechanisms (CFMs) to enhance transparency, trust, and community participation.

Through interactive group discussions, practical exercises, and peer learning, participants exchanged good practices, reflected on challenges, and developed organizational action plans to improve accountability at all levels. The retreat concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening collaboration, promoting meaningful community engagement, and advancing the Humanitarian Reset through more responsive, inclusive, and accountable humanitarian programming.

In view of the next phase of our Child Protection Project, implemented in partnership with Plan International Cameroon, we kicked off a series of capacity-building training for our social workers and project officers to strengthen their knowledge and skills in delivering quality, child-centred humanitarian interventions.

The opening sessions focused on child protection in humanitarian settings, equipping participants with practical knowledge on preventing and responding to child abuse, violence, neglect, exploitation, and other protection risks. The training also reinforced key child protection principles, case management, and the Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS), while introducing the Gender Transformative Approach, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), informed consent, positive masculinity, Parents and Adolescent Life Skills (PALS), and key concepts in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) to enhance holistic care and well-being for children and families.

By investing in the capacity of frontline staff, we are strengthening our ability to deliver safe, inclusive, and accountable services that protect children, promote mental well-being, empower families and communities, and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive throughout the project implementation.

Green Partners Association (GPA) recently participated in a five-day Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Case Management Training aimed at strengthening the capacity of frontline staff to provide quality, survivor-centred support to women and girls affected by GBV. Through interactive sessions and practical exercises, participants enhanced their understanding of the causes and consequences of GBV, the principles of survivor-centred care, effective communication skills, and the full GBV case management process—from survivor engagement and assessment to action planning, follow-up, and safe case closure.

The training also explored specialized responses for survivors of sexual violence and intimate partner violence, while emphasizing the importance of staff well-being, stress management, and burnout prevention to ensure the delivery of safe, ethical, and high-quality services. The knowledge and skills gained will strengthen GPA's ability to respond effectively to the needs of survivors, promote dignity and protection, and contribute to more resilient and safer communities.
