WOMEN, TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY TOO!
“The men and boys with no self-control - woman, take accountability.”
“The man who sexually assaults a toddler - woman, take accountability.”
“The boy who grows up without learning how to understand or control his urges - woman, take accountability.”
“The man who avoids every difficult or sensitive conversation - woman, take accountability.”
“The man who objectifies women - woman, take accountability.”
“The man who grows up believing that being a man simply means providing financially - woman, take accountability.”
Woman, just take accountability.
And somehow, the more women are told to “take accountability,” the less we seem to ask men to take responsibility for their own choices.
Yes, women have a role in raising children.
Yes, mothers can influence the values, emotional intelligence and character of their sons.
Yes, parents, both mothers and fathers, must teach boys about respect, boundaries, self-control, emotional regulation and healthy relationships.
But let's be very careful about where we place responsibility.
A woman did not make a grown man r**e.
A mother does not control every decision her adult son makes.
And blaming women for men's harmful choices does not create accountability; it simply shifts it.
We need to stop raising boys with messages like:
“Boys will be boys.”
“He likes you, that's why he teases you.”
“Men don't cry.”
“A real man must always be in control.”
“Your value as a man is how much money you can provide.”
Then we grow shocked when those boys become men who struggle to communicate, regulate emotions, respect boundaries or understand healthy masculinity.
And this is where women AND men must take accountability.
Because if all we teach women is how to avoid provoking a man's anger, how to dress so she won't be harassed, how to speak so he won't feel disrespected, and how to behave so he won't cheat—
who is teaching the boy not to harass?
Who is teaching him not to abuse?
Who is teaching him to communicate?
Who is teaching him that rejection is not humiliation?
Who is teaching him that a woman's smile is not consent?
Who is teaching him that anger is an emotion—not a weapon?
“Women cheat” may be the comfortable conversation today.
But if we fail to raise boys with emotional intelligence, self-control, empathy and respect, tomorrow we may be dealing with men who believe that rejection is an insult, disagreement is disrespect, and a woman's independence is a threat.
Let's hold women accountable.
But let's stop making women responsible for everything men choose to do.
Raise girls with wisdom.
Raise boys with character.
Hold women accountable.
Hold men accountable.
And most importantly,
TEACH OUR CHILDREN THAT THEIR CHOICES ARE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY.
