GOD AT WORK: GODLY WISDOM AT WORK

TEXT: "But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are" (1 Corinthians 1:27-28).

INTRO.: The wisdom of God is different from the wisdom of the world. Divine wisdom is, Christ crucified but this is foolishness to the world. As such, God makes those of the world who feel they are wise to be confused. How is God's wisdom different from the world's?

1. God Uses those Considered Unintelligent to Accomplish His Salvation Plan (v.27a). "But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise..."

2. God Uses those Considered without Strength to Accomplish His Salvation Plan (v.27b). "...God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong..."

3. God Uses those Considered of Ignoble Birth to Accomplish His Salvation Plan (v.28a). "...God chose w hat is low..."

4.God Uses those Considered Contemptible to Accomplish His Salvation Plan (v.28b). "...and despised in the world..."

5.God Uses those Considered Non-existent to Accomplish His Salvation Plan (v.28c). "...even things that are not, to bring to nothing things."

CON.: Not only is God's wisdom different from the wisdom of the world, but His ways are also different from the ways of the world. God is powerful and can achieve whatever He desires in any age but in the best and moral way. Therefore, those who feel indispensable should adjust their ways before it is too late for them to walk with God.

PRAYER FOCUS
1. Praise God for His wisdom and work with us!
2. Pray for a revelation of God's ways to you.
3. Pray that those who are full of themselves, their eyes will be opened unto God.

GOD AT WORK: OUR CELESTIAL BODY

TEXT: "As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven" (1 Corinthians 15:48-49).

INTRO.: The Bible teaches about the resurrection in this chapter. The teaching is particular about the nature of the body Christians shall have at the resurrection. The text argues that there are different kinds of bodies (v.39): the one used on earth and a heavenly body (v.40); there is a difference in the brightness of the heavenly lights (v.41), there is a natural and supernatural body (v.44). While on earth Christians received a nature from Adam and they will receive another from Christ. What kind of body will Christians have at the resurrection?

1. A Terrestrial Body Exists for those on Earth (v.48a). "As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust..."

2. A Celestial Body exists for those in Heaven (v.48b). "...and as is the man of heaven, so are those who are of heaven."

3. Christians have been in the Terrestrial Nature (v.49a). "Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust..."

4. Christians shall be in the Celestial Nature (v.49b). "...we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven."

CON.: If there is a body made of earthly material, there is also a body made of the heavenly. We are told in this text that as we bore an earthly nature, we shall also bear that heavenly nature equally. Thus, there shall be a resurrection in a celestial body.

PRAYER FOCUS
1. Praise God for His excellent plan of different bodies for different lives!
2. Praise God for this revelation!
3. Pray for grace to live constantly for Christ as you await your new body in heaven.

GOD AT WORK: CONSTANT ASSURED PROVISION

TEXT: "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened" (Matthew 7:7-8).

INTRO.: This author has read about St. Cross Hospital in England. In that hospital, anyone who passes by and asks for a piece of bread 🍞 is given it. In this text, Jesus teaches that God is like St. Cross Hospital, who gives to all who ask from Him. How is this truth taught in this text?

1. The Christian's Request Assures him of Divine Supply (vs.7a; 8a). "Ask, and it will be given to you...For everyone who asks receives..."

2. The Christian's Search for his Needs Assures him of Divine Provision (vs.7b; 8b). "...seek, and you will find...and the one who seeks finds..."

3. The Christian's Strike on the Divine Door Assures its Being Opened (vs.7c; 8c). "...knock, and it will be opened to you. And to the one who knocks, it will be opened."

CON.: There is no exception; everyone who comes to God asking is supplied his need. This life of divine supply begins with the need for salvation and extends to any need of the Christian that is in the will of God. Therefore, Oh my soul, knock hard this day and all your life, ask for great things from your generous and ready-to-give Father in heaven!

PRAYER FOCUS
1. Praise God for their ability and readiness to supply our needs!
2. Pray for grace to ask and the things to ask for.
3. Pray for those who have missed out on this truth to ask God for salvation as a beginning step.

GOD AT WORK: DIVINE ENCOURAGEMENT

TEXT: "And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision, 'Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent, for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many in this city who are my people' (Acts 18:9-10).

INTRO.: This account is recorded by the missionary Paul while in Corinth where preached with a great response. But the Jews rejected the gospel. Thus, Paul decided out of discouragement to turn away from preaching to the Jews unto the Gentiles. Most of the time when Christians are discouraged the Lord openly encourages them. How does God encourage discouraged ministers of the gospel according to this text?

1. God Encourages them by Means of Revelation to them (v.9a). "And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision..."

2. God Encourages them by Addressing their Problem (v.9b). 'Do not be afraid...'

3. God Encourages them by Asking for Right Actions to Continue (v.9c). '...but go on speaking...'

4. God Encourages them by Addressing their Inactiveness (v.9d). '...and do not be silent...'

5. God Encourages them by Assuring them of His Presence (v.10a). '...for I am with you...'

6. God Encourages them by Assuring them of their Security (v.10b). '...and no one will attack you to harm you...'

7.God Encourages them by Assuring them of Reasonable Comfort (v.10c). '...for I have many in this city who are my people...'

CON.: God is always present with His children even when it feels like He is not. He is also always concerned about what His children are faced with. He always face the very thick darkness with them. He cannot be aloof when any of them is going a trouble.

PRAYER FOCUS
1. Praise God for His assured presence with His children!
2. Pray for a high level of consciousness that keeps you reminded of His presence.
3. Pray for an encounter with God by those who trust in gods.

GOD AT WORK: CONJUGAL LOVE APPRECIATES BEAUTY II

TEXT: "Your lips are like a scarlet thread, and your mouth is lovely. Your cheeks are like halves of a pomegranate behind your veil. Your neck is like the tower of David, built in rows of stone; on it hang a thousand shields, all of them shields of warriors"
(Song of Songs 4:3-4).

INTRO.: Appreciative conjugal love is normally responsive love. Conjugal love is keen and watchful. It is also focused on its object. The intentional focus of conjugal love on the beauty of one's spouse produces gluing effects. How does conjugal love appreciate the spouse's beauty?

1. Conjugal Love Sees Beauty even in the Uniqueness of the Spouse's Lips (v.3a). "Your lips are like a scarlet thread..."

2. Conjugal Love Sees Beauty even in Attractive Words from the Spouse (v.3b). "...and your mouth is lovely."

3. Conjugal Love Sees the Best of Attractiveness in the Spouse (v.3c). "Your cheeks are like halves of a pomegranate behind your veil."

4. Conjugal Love Sees Exceptional Qualities even in the Spouse's Neck (v.4a). "Your neck is like the tower of David, built in rows of stone..."

5. Conjugal Love Sees Protection from Foreign Loves in Spouse's Beauty (v.4b). "...on it hang a thousand shields, all shields of warriors."

CON.: Conjugal love focused intentionally on spouse is a mighty tower of protection from possible foreign and deadly love attractions. This is only true when conjugal love operates on biblical and godly standards.

PRAYER FOCUS
1. Praise God for these little but important marriage builders!
2. Pray for grace to make out of these marriage builders.
3. Pray for recovery to marriages that have missed it.

DAILY DIVINE DELICACIES

GOD AT WORK: CONJUGAL LOVE APPRECIATES BEAUTY

TEXT: "Behold, you are beautiful, my love, behold, you are beautiful! Your eyes are doves behind your veil. Your hair is like a flock of goats leaping down the slopes of Gilead. Your teeth are like a flock of shorn ewes that have come up from the washing, all of which bear twins, and not one among them has lost its young" (The Song of Solomon 4:1-2).

INTRO.: Some people have evaluated love and described it as blind. However, this text teaches otherwise. True conjugal love is sighted, keen and objectively evaluative. In this manner it can better appreciate each other. How is conjugal love appreciative?

1. Conjugal Love is Emphatically Satisfied with each Spouse's Fairness (v.1a). "Behold, you are beautiful, my love, behold, you are beautiful!"

2. Conjugal Love Sees Beauty even in the Eyes of the Spouse (v.1b). "Your eyes are doves behind your veil..."

3. Conjugal Love Sees Beauty even in the Hairs of the Spouse (v.1c). "...Your hair is like a flock of goats leaping down the slopes of Gilead."

4. Conjugal Love Sees Beauty even in the Teeth of the Spouse (v.2a). "Your teeth are like a flock of shorn ewes that have come up from the washing, all of which bear twins..."

5. Conjugal Love Sees Complete Beauty in the Spouse (v.2b). "...and not one among them has lost its young."

CON.: Appreciated beauty is appreciation given to the Maker! Appreciated beauty does not only draw the conjugal lovers to themselves but also to Christ Jesus, the one who located the beauty in place. Unappreciated beauty is an abuse to its Maker. Do you appreciate your Maker or abuse Him by your evaluation of your spouse?

PRAYER FOCUS
1. Praise God for the unique way He fashioned your spouse!
2. Pray for the ability to fairly appreciate your spouse.
3. Pray for failed conjugal loves to pick up again in divinely injected love.

GOD AT WORK: DIVINE POWER REVEALED

TEXT: "Yours is the day, yours also the night; you have established the heavenly lights and the sun. You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth; you have made summer and winter"
(Psalms 74:16-17).

INTRO.: This Psalm is one of lament about the destruction of Jerusalem (vs.1-11). The enemy seemed to have been above God. Yet, the author is aware that it is God who isn't willing to act on their behalf (v.12). The text recalls God's past great acts which demonstrates that He can save from all circumstances if He so chooses (v.13ff.). Sometimes we feel the same way; that God isn't acting as He did in the past. However, He doesn't change. How is God's power demonstrated in this text?

1. God Possesses the Lighted Part of the Day (v.16a). "Yours is the day..."

2. God Possesses the Night Part of the Day (v.16b). "...yours also the night..."

3. God Setup All Light Providing Bodies in the Sky (v.16c). "...you have established the heavenly lights..."

4. God Setup the Greatest Light Provider in Place (v.16d). "...and (you have established) the sun."

5. God Setup All Earthly Borders (v.17a). "You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth..."

6. God Determines the Harvest Season of the Year (v.17b). "...you have made summer..."

7. God Determines the Time of Low Sunshine (v.17c). "...and (you have made) winter."

CON.: The text proves that God is the provider of great opportunities in life. He makes the day for our gainful activities. He also gives us time to regain strength from our work. He set in place, keeps and lights all the heavenly lights. God is responsible for the seasons of the year and the geographical boundaries. No one, or thing can claim to be responsible for any of these but they are boldly all said to be from God.

PRAYER FOCUS
1. Praise God for His greatness!
2. Pray for deeper insights into His greatness.
3. Pray for submission to God

DAILY DIVINE DELICACIES

GOD AT WORK: DEPEND ON THE LORD

TEXT: “But if you do go, do it, be strong for the battle; yet God will bring you down before the enemy, for God has power to help and to bring down." 9 And Amaziah said to the man of God, ‘But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the troops of Israel?’ And the man of God answered, ‘The LORD has much more to give you than this.’” (2Ch 25:8 NAS)

INTRO.: In 2 Chronicles 25:8-9, Judah, the Southern kingdom of Israel, had war with Edom, king Amaziah, without consulting the Lord, and hired fighting men from Israel, the Northern kingdom. Then, a man of God instructed him to prevent those men from fighting with him because God was angry with them for their sins. God can fight for those who trust in Him. Therefore, those who trust in the Lord should depend on Him for good victory in life. How should Christians rely on the Lord for victory?

1. Christians Depend on the Lord for Victory by Generating Personal Courage for Battle (v.8a). “But if you do go, do it, be strong for the battle…”

2. Christians Depend on the Lord for Victory by Recognizing God Brings Defeat in Battle (v.8b). “…yet God will bring you down before the enemy…”

3. Christians Depend on the Lord for Victory by Recognizing God Brings Assistance in Battle (v.8c). “…for God has power to help…”

4. Christians Depend on the Lord for Victory by Recognizing God Overthrows in Battle (v.8d). “…and (God has power) to bring down.”

5. Christians Depend on the Lord for Victory by Seeking Godly Counsel for Battle (v.9a). “And Amaziah said to the man of God, ‘But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the troops of Israel?’

6. Christians Depend on the Lord for Victory by Seeking Divine Riches for Battle (v.9b). “And the man of God answered, ‘The LORD has much more to give you than this.’”

CON.: Every battle in the Christian life is of the Lord. He does not bring or allow them out of hatred for His children facing them. He does this to strengthen them. Sometimes, He does this to show His superiority in battle matters. As in this text, He does so at other times because He wants them to live on unlimited divine resources. Whatever the case, we are called on today to depend unwaveringly on God for victory in our battles. What battle are you currently facing? Depends on the Lord for good triumph now and in the future.

PRAYER FOCUS
1. Praise God for His readiness to fight for those who trust Him!
2. Pray for complete trust in the Lord for the Christian life's battles.
3. Pray those who have backslidden in the faith due to warfare may bounce back.
4. Pray for the salvation of those fighting on their own.

DAILY DIVINE DELICACIES

GOD AT WORK: BE HOLY!

TEXT: "You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor. 16 You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand up against the life of your neighbor: I am the LORD" (Leviticus 19:15-16 ESV).

INTRO.: The people of God received the book of Leviticus as God's intention to achieve holiness among them (Lev 19:2). The Lord spoke to them based on the fact that He is their Creator (Gen 1 and 2) and the owner of their lives (vs.1-3). God is still the Creator of all things and the owner of all things. How can Christians maintain holiness in relationship to one another?

1. Christians can Maintain Holiness by Rejecting any Form of Unrighteousness among them (v.15a). "You shall do no injustice in court."

2. Christians can Maintain Holiness by Rejecting any Form of Unfairness Against the Needy (v.15b). "You shall not be partial to the poor..."

3. Christians can Maintain Holiness by Rejecting Impartiality among them (v.15c). "...or defer to the great..."

4. Christians can Maintain Holiness by Passing the Right Convictions on each Other (v.15d). "...but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor."

5. Christians can Maintain Holiness by Rejecting any Form of Gossip among them (v.16a). "You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people..."

6. Christians can Maintain Holiness by Rejecting any Form of Killing among them (v.16b). "...and you shall not stand up against the life of your neighbor..."

7. Christians can Maintain Holiness by Obeying the One who is the Source of All Existence (v.16c). "...I am the LORD."

CON.: God is the standard for accepting anything as right or wrong. He is holy; to be blessed, he must be sacred according to His standard. To be holy, a person must receive divine righteousness in Jesus Christ and the enablement to live according to God's standards.

PRAYER FOCUS
1. Praise God for giving us the proper standard for a meaningful life!
2. Pray for the grace to be fair in all your dealings.
3. Pray for those mistreated by Christians to see beyond the wrong treatment.
