ASIPCAM Marks World Sickle Cell Day with Sensitization Activities at PC Lafe Baleng, West Presbytery

As part of activities marking World Sickle Cell Day (19th June 2026), the Executive Director of ASIPCAM carried out a sensitization session at PC Lafe Baleng, West Presbytery, on Sunday 21st June 2026.

The activity focused on raising awareness about sickle cell disease, promoting early testing, reducing stigma, and encouraging communities to support persons living with sickle cell. Participants were educated on prevention, management, and the importance of informed health decisions.

ASIPCAM continues to champion awareness and support initiatives aimed at improving the lives of individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease.

ASIPCAM calls on parents, teachers, health workers, and communities to support children with sickle cell disease through understanding, early care, and a safe learning environment. Together, we can reduce stigma, promote awareness, and ensure that no child is left behind.

World Sickle Cell Day 2026

In Cameroon, sickle cell disease remains one of the most common inherited health conditions, affecting thousands of children, young people, and families. Many continue to face challenges related to diagnosis, treatment, and social stigma. Today, we reaffirm the need for increased awareness, early screening, comprehensive care, and stronger support systems to improve the quality of life of those living with the disease.

As we join the global community in commemorating World Sickle Cell Day, we stand in solidarity with millions worldwide who face the realities of sickle cell disease every day. Together, we must advocate for better healthcare access, invest in research, and promote policies that ensure no one is left behind.

From Cameroon to the world, let us raise our voices, spread awareness, and champion a future where every person living with sickle cell disease can thrive.
