🌍 International Day for Countering Hate Speech, June 18.

Hate speech doesn't just hurt, it divides communities, fuels conflict, and silences the voices that matter most. Left unchecked, it has been a warning sign before some of history's darkest moments. This year's theme: The power of partnerships in countering hate speech serves as a reminder.

No single person, platform, or organization can fix this alone. It takes communities, youth, leaders, media, and policymakers standing together both online and offline to drown out hate with dialogue.

In RADA, we believe every voice deserves to be heard with respect, not silenced by hate. We choose dialogue over division. We choose truth over toxic rhetoric. We choose unity over fear.

🤝 Speak up when you see hate. Let's stand together when others are targeted. Say no to hate today and every day.

Last week, the Reconciliation and Development Association -RADA team, in collaboration with NEDA , continued its month-long advocacy and awareness campaign on Infantile Epileptic Spasms Syndrome (IESS).

During the educational session, the team engaged breastfeeding mothers at the St. Blaise Catholic Hospital Big Mankon, and the healthcare staff at CMA Mendakwe on why early detection matters and key interventions.

Breastfeeding mothers were educated on the warning signs and symptoms of IESS, the importance of closely monitoring their children for any unusual behaviors, and the need to seek prompt medical attention when concerns arise.

They also discussed seizure first aid and highlighted the importance of breaking the stigma and misconceptions surrounding epilepsy to ensure affected children and their families receive the support they deserve.

Healthcare workers were further equipped with knowledge to identify and appropriately refer suspected cases for timely diagnosis and treatment.

It was an active session with all attendees getting fully engaged. The team remains committed to raising awareness, improving early detection, and reducing preventable disability associated with IESS.

Together, let's give every child the opportunity to reach their full potential.

This June, the Reconciliation and Development Association -RADA, in collaboration with NEDA, is running a one-month advocacy and awareness campaign on Infantile Epileptic Spasms Syndrome (IESS) throughout this month.

IESS is a severe form of epilepsy that affects infants and young children. It often begins with sudden spasms and can lead to developmental delays, intellectual disability, and long-term neurological challenges if not recognized and treated early.

Through this campaign, we will: Raise awareness among pregnant women, parents, and caregivers about the early signs and symptoms of .

✅ Educate communities on the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.
✅ Strengthen the capacity of frontline health workers to identify and refer suspected cases.
✅ Address stigma, myths, and misconceptions surrounding epilepsy.
✅ Promote timely care-seeking and access to appropriate health services.

Our target beneficiaries include pregnant women attending Antenatal Care (ANC) services, mothers and caregivers of infants and young children, community health workers, nurses, health facility staff, community leaders, and influencers.

Together, we can improve early detection, reduce preventable disability, and give every child the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Yesterday was the World Day Against Child Labor 2026 commemorated under the theme “Red Card to Child Labor: Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults.”

"Just as a red card in sports signals a serious violation of the rules, child labor represents a violation of children’s rights. " RADA's Peace Department.

Every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn, play, and develop their full potential. Instead of working in fields, factories, mines, markets, or homes, children should be in schools, playgrounds, and communities that support their growth and well-being.

According to the Humanium, despite commendable efforts by the government, 43.7% of children aged 5-14 are in work, and 42.4% of children aged 7-14 work while attending school.

Here are a few updates on the Type 1 Diabetes Community Fund Project💪

Did you know that, despite the recommendations for at least 60 minutes of daily physical exercise, many children living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) do not meet this target😔

Yet outdoor activities play an important role in supporting healthy development, building confidence, promoting well-being, and helping children with T1D stay active and engaged.

With this in mind, the project team is working behind the scenes to prepare for an unforgettable T1D Picnic – Phase 2 this June! 🤗

From preparing picnic materials to coordinating activities to engaging children with T1D and their caregivers, preparations are ongoing to ensure a fun, educational, and memorable experience for everyone involved.

The picnic will provide an opportunity for children living with T1D and their caregivers to connect, learn, play, and create lasting memories in a supportive environment.

📅 June is here, and we can’t wait to bring everyone together!

Day 2 of our workshop on Strengthening Civil Society Coordination for Human Rights Protection and State–Civil Society Engagement in Cameroon did not just close a two-day conversation; it opened a new chapter 💪.

The day began with a recap of key findings and highlights from the previous day which was closely followed by a presentation on the vision and components of the draft framework facilitated by Mr. Ferdinant M. Sonyuy.

The next activity was the intense group work; participants rolled up their sleeves and got to work. The second day was fully dedicated to co-creating the FESECSA, which is a draft National Framework for State Engagement with Civil Society Organizations.
This will be a nationally owned mechanism designed to institutionalize dialogue, consultation, accountability, and partnership between the State and Civil Society.

Six working groups tackled the framework's twelve components, from its core principles and the rights and responsibilities of CSOs, to dispute resolution, monitoring mechanisms, and an implementation roadmap. Each group brought the previous day's discussions to the table, and the outputs were substantive.

What made this process deliberate was the co-creation approach itself. Every participating organization is a co-author of this framework.
By the end of the day, Draft 1 was in hand. The road ahead includes the unification of the draft by the working group and the development of a policy brief.

We are grateful to CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation for making this initiative possible, to Hon. Agho Oliver and Hon. Esembe for their commitment to fronting this initiative. Our appreciation goes to Mr. Martin Tsounkeu and Mr. Njome Ekeke, for their invaluable contributions.

To every organization that gave two full days to this work, thank you. The framework belongs to all of us.

Hon. Agho Oliver during the workshop aimed at Strengthening Civil Society Coordination for Human Rights Protection and State-Civil Society Engagement in Cameroon encouraged every participant to have a good mastery of the ministerial department in charge of their CSO activities and to be compliant with the law.

"No representative of the people, and entire parliament, should work without the Civil society being their backbone" said, Honorable Agho in his opening Remarks.

He also indicated that he is a champion of Civil Society and therefore accepts the appellation granted to him in the workshop, and he believes in the need for and the work of Civil Society.
