Today, RUGBWA, alongside other women-led organisations across the North West Region, took to the streets in a powerful advocacy walk against the alarming rise of femicides in Cameroon.

We walked because women are being killed simply for being women. We walked because behind every statistic is a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a colleague, a life that mattered.

There is NO justification for killing a woman.
Not anger. Not jealousy. Not relationship disputes. Not tradition. Not culture. Nothing.

A woman’s life is important too. Her safety is a right, not a privilege. Her life should never be treated as disposable.

Today, we raised our voices for every woman whose life has been brutally taken, for every family left grieving, and for every woman and girl who deserves to live free from violence and fear.

THIS HAS TO STOP 🛑

We call on communities, leaders, law enforcement, justice institutions, civil society, and every individual to take action against gender-based violence and femicide.

Silence cannot protect us.
Indifference cannot save lives.
We must act. We must speak. We must stand together.

STOP FEMICIDE.
STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN.

⁉️ Every warning matters. Every woman matters. Every life matters. Femicide is preventable, and ending it requires all of us to speak up, stand together, and take action against violence. Let’s challenge harmful attitudes, support survivors, listen when someone says they feel unsafe, and refuse to ignore threats, abuse, or discrimination. 🫶🏽✊🏽 Together, we can end femicide.

No one should have to live in fear. No family should lose a loved one to gender-based violence. We must promote respect, accountability, safety, and justice in our homes, schools, workplaces, communities, and institutions. If you witness abuse or believe someone may be in danger, do not stay silent—seek help, report it, and support the person affected with compassion and care.

🌍 World Humanitarian Day 2026:

Today, we gathered alongside 32 dedicated organizations at the CBC Assemble place in Bamenda to commemorate World Humanitarian Day, organized by the United Nations and United Nations OCHA under this year’s theme, Action for Humanity. The event was a powerful display of unity and community spirit, featuring energetic sporting activities, vibrant cultural performances, and interactive exhibition stands highlighting the transformative work taking place across the North West Region.

Coming together under the leadership of the UN and OCHA reinforces our shared commitment to serve, support, and stand by those who need it most. A heartfelt thank you to the organizers and every frontline worker who continues to bring hope, relief, and positive change to our local communities.

We are proud to share that our communications Officer Bemsi Timothy Ankiambom is currently representing our organization at the MenEngage Africa SRHR Learning & Exchange Symposium (PROGRESS 2026) in Mombasa, Kenya! 🇰🇪

Day 1 kicked off with deep reflections on our collective and institutional why, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) despite the complex challenges facing our communities.

Throughout the opening sessions, our representative engaged in critical discussions focused on:

🚨Every young girl in our community deserves the right to live in dignity and complete her education.🚨

But for many girls in the Southwest Region, especially areas like Wabane, that dream is still up for negotiation due to poverty, high patriarchal norms, and exploitation.🤷

At RUGBWA, we believe in community first, putting young people at the forefront. We have successfully partnered with young people and adolescents to carry the message of peace, SRHR, and gender justice into the deepest parts of their communities.✨

Our Next Mission: Helping these girls get back to school to secure their futures.🔮

Educating them is an absolute necessity for disrupting early pregnancy and GBV, providing them with the necessary support to heal and succeed.

🕊️The central role of women in community peacebuilding can never be overlooked.🕊️

Providing women with the essential technical support they need to foster peace is crucial, as they possess a unique capacity to nurture, mentor, and shape future generations.🤍✨

During one of our focus group discussions, we witnessed firsthand just how influential women are in de-escalating tension in conflict-prone areas. They have an incredible ability to mediate disputes and restore peace.🌊💧

Ultimately, there should be no decisions about women without women!❗❗

Awareness is good, but ACTION is what saves lives. 🛑💪

The fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cannot end with sensitization and advocacy alone. We can keep highlighting the evils of GBV, but if we aren't talking about practical ways to end it, nothing changes.

True advocacy requires a call to action. Here is how we can take a stand practically:

📞 Report cases of GBV immediately—never look the other way.

⚖️ Expose perpetrators and demand accountability.
❤️ Protect survivors and provide them with the necessary support to heal.

Let’s move from words to action. True justice is active, not passive. 🤝
