Un centro comunitario y educativo con un foco en sustentabilidad y cultura. Este proyecto ha sido en obra durante más de 3.5 años. En el comienzo del año 2010, Carolina Pizarro, fundadora de Pio Pio, se encontró en una situación trágica y peculiar: en Noche Buena, su padre falleció de cáncer de páncreas. El siempre fue alguien que ella admiro, él trabajó para TWA durante más de 30 años,
y le mostró el mundo a través de los viajes y las culturas diversas. Él hablaba cinco idiomas y tenía amigos de todo el mundo sin el uso de las redes sociales digitales. Era un aventurero, tenía un ojo para los negocios y no tenía miedo a lo desconocido, agarró la vida por las riendas y creó la realidad en la que él quería existir. Justo antes de su muerte, le dijo Carolina sobre una parcelita de una hectárea de su propiedad en la costa de Chile - Estaba pensando en venderla para ayudar la familia económicamente- Le dijo que la había poseído desde 1974 y siempre habló de cómo amaba la playa de Reñaca, al escuchar eso, Carolina supo que era su deber a proteger su terreno. Ella le dijo que no iba venderlo y que iba hacer algo en el terreno en su memoria. Desde este momento, ella comenzó a viajar por todo el mundo sola y contó sobre la historia del terreno y de su papá. De miles de kilometros de viaje, cientos de conversaciones, y un par de docenas de países, la idea de Pio Pio se formó. Ella quería el intercambio cultural, un impactomínimoo, y el crecimiento de una comunidad. A continuación, ella se abrió a sí misma en el mundo de la permacultura y la bioconstrucción. Desde abril de 2012, se mudó a Chile para aprender el idioma, sus raíces, y para formar amistades y conexiones fuertes. Pio Pio no era algo que se hizo en una noche, sino a lo largo de horas incontables de conversaciones con un maté en la mano. Casi 3,5 años años más tarde y por fin estamos listos para trabajar físicamente! Carolina se ha asociado con Shelley Su Stenzel, y como defensores de la permacultura, sabemos que el diseño de Pio Pio es por donde empezar. Así que tendremos nuestro primer evento educativo, un curso de Diseño de la Permacultura Aplicada para crear el mapa de Pio Pio. Habiendo dicho esto, estamos en la etapa de diseño y concepto al crear físicamente la infraestructura básica. Estamos observando el sol, el viento, las lineas del agua, y de la vegetación natural de la tierra. Estamos visualizando donde existirán nuestros microempresas (cervecería, galería de arte, cafetería, escuela Waldorf, etc). El microclima mediterráneo que existe en nuestro barrio es ideal para cultivacion y bioconstrucción. Después de este curso nos dirigiremos hacia nuestro siguiente fase que será la construcción a través de la educación. Estos objetivos se alcanzarán a través de programas voluntarios como el programa WWOOF (Oportunidades Mundiales en Granjas Orgánicas), Help X, Couchsurfing, y con la ayuda de nuestros familiares y amigos. Instalaremos nuestros jardines y nuestras sistemas de aguas grises y traer nuestras mascotas a Pio Pio (POLLITOS!). Cuando tengamos estas cosas, nuestro objetivo será dar un curso sobre la construcción de la escuela Waldorf que será dirigido por nuestros vecinos. ENGLISH:
An educational community center with a strong focus on sustainability and culture. This project has been in the works for over 3.5 years. In early 2010, Carolina Pizarro, founder of Pio Pio, found herself in a tragic and peculiar situation. On Christmas eve, her father passed away from Pancreatic Cancer. Her father was always someone she looked up to. He worked for TWA for over 30 years and showed her the world through travel and culture. He spoke five languages and had friends all around the globe without the use of online social networks. He was an adventurer, had an eye for business and wasn't afraid of the unknown. He grabbed life by the reigns and created the reality he wanted to exist. Shortly before his death, he told Carolina about a one hectare piece of land he owned in coastal Chile that he was thinking about selling to help the family financially. He told her he had owned it since 1974 and always talked about how he loved Reñaca. Hearing that, Carolina knew keeping the land was the only option. She told him not to sell and she would do something on the land in his memory. From that point on, she began to travel around the world on her own bringing up her story of the land and of her father. Over thousands of miles of travel, hundreds of conversations and a couple dozen countries, she more or less had the idea of Pio Pio. She wanted cultural exchange, she wanted minimal impact and she wanted community building. She then opened herself up to the world of permaculture and natural building. Since April 2012, she relocated to Chile to learn the language, her roots and to form lasting friendships and connections. Pio Pio wasn't something to be made overnight, but over countless hours of discussions with mate in hand. Almost 3.5 years later and we are finally ready to get physical! Carolina has teamed up with Shelley Su Stenzel, and as permaculture advocates we know that design is where to begin. So we are having our first educational event, a course of Applied Permaculture Design to create the map of Pio Pio. That being said, we are in the design and concept stage while physically creating basic infrastructure. We are observing the sun, the wind, the water lines and the natural vegetation of the land. We are visualizing where our micro businesses will exist (brewery, art gallery, café, Waldorf school, etc). We are working with our semi humid Mediterranean microclimate to cultivate and build. After this course we will be heading into our next phase which will be construction through education. These goals will be met through volunteer programs such as WWOOF program (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms), Help X, Couchsurfing, and our friends and family. We will be installing our gardens and our grey water systems and bringing our mascots to the land (CHICKENS!). Once we have a grasp on those things, we will be aiming to run a course on the construction of the Waldorf School run by our neighbors.
