African Children Opportunities (ACO) is a New York-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing culturally relevant emotional, intellectual and material support empowering African children to succeed through education no matter the challenges they might be facing. ACO supports children victims of abuse with a particular focus on young girls victims of trafficking, gender-based violence and
other violence that prevent them from succeeding at school. In the USA, ACO creates programs in direct response to the needs of the growing number of African communities in NYC metropolitan area who may be victims of human trafficking or seeking asylum from tragedies in their country of origin. ACO provides supporting counseling to youth with emotional disorders, parenting education, advocacy, translation services and African culture education. In Africa, ACO works with schools and experienced professionals to mobilize resources and support young girls victims of trafficking, gender-based violence, and abuse. We also provide education support for children to succeed in school and become responsible citizens in their communities.
