Wenn Freiheit Beine bekommt
Vor einigen Monaten haben wir gefeiert, dass Isaac nach einer lebensverändernden Operation endlich richtig laufen konnte. Heute rennt er los – voller Freude und Energie. Das Lachen auf seinem Gesicht sagt mehr als tausend Worte. 🏃🏾‍♂️✨️

Solche Momente sind es, die unsere Arbeit lebendig machen und uns tief berühren. Es ist unglaublich, wie viel Glück wir in diesen kleinen, aber so bedeutenden Augenblicken erleben dürfen. 💙

When freedom finds its feet
Several months ago, we celebrated that Isaac could finally walk properly after a lifechanging surgery. Today, he runs – full of joy and energy. The laughter on his face says more than a thousand words. 🏃🏾‍♂️✨️

These are the moments that make our work meaningful and touch us deeply. It’s incredible how much happiness we get to experience in these small but so significant moments. 💙

Il y a quelques mois, nous avons célébré le fait qu’Isaac pouvait enfin marcher correctement après une opération qui a changé sa vie. Aujourd’hui, il court – rempli de joie et d’énergie. Le rire sur son visage en dit plus que mille mots. 🏃🏾‍♂️✨️

Dieses Kind zeigt uns, wie kreativ und erfinderisch Kinder sein können, wenn man ihnen ein sicheres Umfeld und Vertrauen schenkt.

✨Z - Zukunft und Ziele✨
Wir möchten sicherstellen, daas diese Kinder nicht vergessen werden. Sie sollen die Chance auf Bildung bekommen - eine Perspektive, die ihnen eines Tages ermöglicht, selbstständig zu leben, einen Beruf zu ergreifen und ihre Zukunft in die Hand zu nehmen.
Gerade Kinder mit Beeinträchtigungen haben es im Land besonders schwer. Oft werden sie an den Rand gedrängt, weil man ihnen wenig zutraut. Doch wir wissen: in ihnen steckt viel mehr, als man auf den ersten Blick sieht. Darum setzen wir uns dafür ein, dass sie gestärkt werden – durch Schule, durch Förderung und durch echte Teilhabe. ❤️

We want to ensure that these children are not forgotten. They should have the opportunity for education – a perspective that will one day enable them to live independently, pursue a career, and take control of their future. Children with disabilities have a particularly difficult time in this country. They are often marginalized because of lack of confidence in their abilities. But we know: there is much more to them than meets the eye. That's why we are committed to empowering them – through school, support, and genuine participation. ❤️

Nous voulons que ces enfants ne soient pas oubliés. Ils doivent avoir accès à l'éducation – une perspective qui leur permettra un jour de vivre de manière autonome, de poursuivre une carrière et de prendre leur avenir en main. Les enfants handicapés sont souvent marginalisés parce qu'on ne leur fait pas confiance. Mais nous savons qu'ils ont bien plus à offrir qu'il n'y paraît. ✨️Y - Yes-Mentalität ✨
Im Institut Saint Kizito wird gelernt, Ja zu sagen: Ja zu Chancen, Ja zu Herausforderungen, Ja zum Leben!
Unsere Kinder haben eine klare Yes-Mentalität – sie trauen sich, Neues auszuprobieren und sich auch im Sport zu zeigen.
So nehmen sie jedes Jahr am nationalen Fussballturnier für Kinder mit Beeinträchtigungen teil, spielen Volleyball und entdecken die Freude an Bewegung. Sport wird hier nicht nur als Spiel verstanden, sondern als Möglichkeit, Grenzen zu überwinden, Mut zu fassen und gemeinsam zu wachsen.
Diese Haltung prägt das ganze Schulleben: Wer Ja sagt, öffnet Türen – für sich selbst und für andere. 💛

At the Institut Saint Kizito, we learn to say yes: yes to opportunities, yes to challenges, yes to life! Our children have a clear "yes" mentality – they dare to try new things and show off their talents in sports. Every year, they participate in the national soccer tournament for children with disabilities, play volleyball, and discover the joys of movement. Sport is seen here not just as a game, but as an opportunity to overcome boundaries, gain courage, and grow together. This attitude permeates the entire school life: Saying yes opens doors – for themselves and for others. 💛

À l'Institut Saint Kizito, on apprend à dire oui : oui aux opportunités, oui aux défis, oui à la vie ! Nos enfants ont une mentalité de « oui » bien définie : ils osent tenter de nouvelles choses et démontrent leurs talents sportifs. Chaque année, ils participent au tournoi national de football pour enfants en situation de handicap, jouent au volley-ball et découvrent les joies du mouvement. Im Institut Saint Kizito bedeutet Excellence mehr als gute Noten – es ist ein Zeichen von Einsatz, Mut und Stolz. Jedes Jahr im Juni stellen sich die Kinder ihren Examen, und wer besteht, darf ins nächste Schuljahr weiter.
Besonders beeindruckend sind die Schüler/innen d’Excellence: Sie werden bei einer festlichen Veranstaltung zusammen mit den Alumni geehrt, erhalten Applaus, Anerkennung und Motivation für die nächsten Schritte.
Excellence zeigt: Wer hart arbeitet, über sich hinauswächst und seine Chancen nutzt, kann stolz auf seine Fortschritte sein – und Mut für neue Herausforderungen sammeln. 💛

Nach sechs Jahren Primarschule in St. Kizito endet ein wichtiger Abschnitt im Leben unserer Kinder – und gleichzeitig beginnt ein neuer Weg. Doch sie stehen dabei nicht alleine da.
Die Schulleitung und die pädagogische Leitung tauschen sich mit den Kindern und ihren Eltern aus, um die nächsten Schritte sorgfältig vorzubereiten:
➡️ Soll das Kind ein Gymnasium oder eine Sekundarschule besuchen – und ist diese Schule auch behindertengerecht ausgestattet?
➡️ Oder ist eine praktische Ausbildung oder eine Lehre der passende Weg?
Jedes Kind wird begleitet und unterstützt, damit es die Chance hat, seine Fähigkeiten zu entfalten und eine selbstständige Zukunft zu gestalten.

After six years of primary school in St. Kizito, an important chapter in our children's lives comes to an end – and a new path begins. But they are not alone in this.
The school administration and the educational leadership team communicate with the children and their parents to carefully prepare the next steps:
➡️ Should the child attend a grammar school or secondary school – and is this school accessible for people with disabilities?
➡️ Or is practical training or an apprenticeship the right path? Every child is accompanied and supported so that they have the opportunity to develop their abilities and shape an independent future.

Après six années d'école primaire à St. Kizito, un chapitre important de la vie de nos enfants s'achève et un nouveau chemin commence. Mais ils ne sont pas seuls.
La direction de l'école et l'équipe pédagogique échangent avec les enfants et leurs parents pour préparer soigneusement les prochaines étapes:
➡️ L'enfant doit-il fréquenter un collège ou un lycée ? Cet établissement est-il accessible aux personnes en situation de handicap ?

Im Institut Saint Kizito wird Vielfalt jeden Tag gelebt. Von 235 Kindern im letzten Schuljahr hatten 171 eine Beeinträchtigung – und doch wäre die Gemeinschaft ohne die Kinder ohne Beeinträchtigung nicht vollständig. Durch das gemeinsame Lernen und Leben entsteht echte Inklusion: Alle Kinder unterstützen sich gegenseitig, lernen voneinander und werden nicht getrennt behandelt.
Jedes Kind bringt seine eigenen Talente und Stärken mit. Genau diese Vielfalt macht das Zusammenleben so besonders: Sie fördert Solidarität, Toleranz und Freundschaft – Werte, die nicht nur in der Schule zählen, sondern auch später im Leben helfen, Inklusion weiter zu leben. 💛

Das bedeutet zum Beispiel, dass sie durch Physiotherapie oder passende Hilfsmittel selbstständig laufen können, dass sie ihre täglichen Aufgaben wie Anziehen oder Essen eigenständig meistern oder, dass sie dank Bildung später einmal einen Beruf ausüben können.
Unabhängigkeit bedeutet hier, die Fähigkeiten jedes Kindes so zu fördern, dass es seine eigenen Stärken entdecken und nutzen kann – und dadurch mit Zuversicht in die Zukunft blickt.

Many of them have a physical disability – but with the right support, they learn step by step to become more independent. ✨️T - Tambouren✨️
Das Trommeln gehört zu den ältesten und wichtigsten Traditionen Burundis und es ist eine grosse Ehre, Teil einer Tambourengruppe zu sein. Auch unsere Schule hat eine eigene Gruppe von Kindern, die voller Leidenschaft wöchentlich üben.
Die Kinder lernen, im Einklang miteinander zu spielen, stolz aufzutreten und ihre Kultur lebendig weiterzugeben. Besonders eindrucksvoll wird es, wenn sie das Trommeln mit dem traditionellen Tanz verbinden – ein Erlebnis voller Kraft, Geschichte und Gänsehaut-Momenten.
Diese Auftritte sind nicht nur schön anzusehen, sondern auch ein Zeichen: Unsere Kinder können mit Stolz ihre Tradition leben und zeigen, was in ihnen steckt.💚❤️🤍

Drumming is one of Burundi's oldest and most important traditions, and it's a great honor to be part of a drum corps. Our school also has its own group of children who passionately practice weekly. The children learn to play in harmony, perform proudly, and pass on their culture in a lively way. It's particularly impressive when they combine drumming with traditional dance—an experience full of power, history, and goosebump-inducing moments. These performances are not only beautiful to watch, but also a sign: Our children can proudly live their traditions and show what they're capable of.💚❤️🤍

Le tambour est l'une des traditions les plus anciennes et les plus importantes du Burundi, et c'est un grand honneur de faire partie d'un corps de tambours. Notre école possède également son propre groupe d'enfants qui s'entraînent avec passion chaque semaine. Les enfants apprennent à jouer en harmonie, à se produire fièrement et à transmettre leur culture avec dynamisme. C'est particulièrement impressionnant lorsqu'ils associent le tambour à la danse traditionnelle : une expérience pleine de puissance, d'histoire et de frissons. Ces performances sont non seulement magnifiques à regarder, mais aussi un signe : nos enfants peuvent vivre fièrement leurs traditions et montrer de quoi ils sont capables.💚❤️🤍
