Loneliness doesn’t stay in the mind. It travels through the body.

Science shows that chronic loneliness can affect the brain, increase stress hormones like cortisol, disrupt sleep, weaken immune function, and increase inflammation.

Dr. John Cacioppo described loneliness as “social pain” — our brains can respond to social rejection in ways that overlap with physical pain.

Connection can help reverse the cycle.

Stress can decrease.
Defensive patterns can soften.
Our bodies and brains can respond to reconnection.

Loneliness can reshape us.
Connection can reshape us too.
