Growing the game in Paraguay! 🇵🇾
Football in Paraguay has made remarkable strides over the past decade, driven by the country’s deep passion for the game and a strategic, productive partnership between FIFA and the Paraguayan Football Association (APF).
The APF has channeled more than USD 10.5 million in development funding, including USD 7.25 million devoted entirely to first-class infrastructure. That investment has helped deliver three high-performance technical centres and 17 fully equipped pitches. The infrastructure modernisation strategy was rolled out in stages across the different phases of the Forward Programme.
Phase 1.0 saw the modernisation of CARDE, the Albiroga Complex in Ypané, completed in 2020. This included upgraded changing rooms, a high-performance gym for the senior national team, a new press room, medical and rehabilitation facilities, an indoor training centre for youth teams and an expanded team hotel.
FIFA Forward 2.0 then supported the 2022 inauguration of CARFEM, the Women’s Football High-Performance Centre, a pioneering complex jointly funded with CONMEBOL’s Evolution Programme and the APF’s own resources. CARFEM has two team hotels, seven training pitches, broadcast booths, stands, boxes and a specialised gym.
Paraguay became the second CONMEBOL Member Association, and the 11th worldwide, to launch FIFA Football for Schools. It was also the first South American country to implement the FIFA Arena project.
