We are the Young Scientist Network, a non-profit organization created and run by a group of graduate students/post-docs of the University and the ETH Zurich.

We strive to connect life scientists to career opportunities beyond academia. We host events to allow young academics to explore the world of biotechnology and to stimulate constructive interactions between people from various life science sectors.

Our recent Beer Break was wonderful!
We had a fantastic time meeting all the cheerful students who joined us and chatted over beers and snacks. The enthusiasm of our team and the curiosity of the students made it a real success. A huge thank you to everyone who came!

Greetings from the new LSZYSN board!

We are 4 UZH PhD students: Adela, Laura, Melanie and Nicola. We are very excited for our time on the board and would like to thank the network for the trust they‘ve placed in us. We are committed to continue and build on the great work of the previous board and look forward to guiding the network towards yet another successful year!

Last week we kicked off the inaugural R&D CAMP (CSL Academic Mentoring Program) at the CSL site in Bern Wankdorf. After months of preparation it was incredible to see everything come together and to meet the motivated group of mentees and the experts from CSL who will mentor them over the next 6 months. During the introduction in the morning, the mentees gained new insights into the individual roles and areas that the various mentors work in and were guided through the state-of-the-art production facility. The mentors and mentees were then able to get to know each other better and forge connections over a delicious lunch. The afternoon session was filled with team-building exercises for the mentees to learn more about their peers’ personal interests and ideas. After such an inspiring first event, we can’t wait for the next R&D CAMP events! Our thanks go out to all the mentors from CSL that are offering to share their personal experience and expertise with the young talents and especially to Jonas V. Schaefer whose drive and vision have been invaluable to create the first ever R&D CAMP.

Last week, we hosted Zurich Life Science Week 2024, a great opportunity for young scientists to kick-start their careers in the Life Science industry. 20 selected candidates received personalized coaching and feedback on job applications, interview skills, and how to explore hidden job opportunities.
