Freddy Lim
Representative of Taiwan to Finland
Freddy Lim currently serves as Taiwan’s Representative to Finland. A former two-term member of Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan, he has long been engaged in diplomacy, human rights, and international affairs.
He is also the lead vocalist of the internationally renowned Taiwanese heavy metal band Chthonic. Through music, culture, and public advocacy, Lim has spent years bringing Taiwan’s history, identity, and democratic values to audiences around the world — helping Taiwan’s voice reach far beyond its borders.
From the music stage to parliament and now the diplomatic front line, Lim’s work has consistently been grounded in the values of freedom, democracy, and human rights. Today, he is committed to deepening ties between Taiwan and Finland across diplomacy, culture, technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
💬 Panel Topic | Frontline Democracies: Geopolitical Resilience in an Era of Authoritarian Pressure
Taiwan and Finland may be geographically far apart, but both stand on the front lines of today’s geopolitical challenges, facing pressure from powerful authoritarian neighbours.
How can frontline democracies deepen cooperation and strengthen trust within their societies? And how can shared democratic values be translated into concrete resilience and collective action?
Freddy Lim will join the first panel discussion, bringing perspectives from both Taiwan and Finland to explore with fellow international speakers how frontline democracies can work together to respond to authoritarian pressure and safeguard the hard-won freedoms and democratic values we share.
