Ali’s Story: A Place to Belong Again
Ali Jarbouh is a child with special educational needs. Before the war, our community center was his safe space, a place where he felt accepted, supported, and able to learn. But when the war forced families to flee and the center to shut down, Ali lost more than just a routine; he lost the only place where he was truly included.
For children like Ali, the aftermath of war is more than just physical displacement. Returning home was not enough, he needed a space that understood him. Schools and other institutions could not provide the support he required. Without the center, Ali was at risk of being left behind.
But even during the war, our center’s supervisor, Mr. Jaafar Akil, stayed in contact with Ali’s family and others like them. He never let them feel forgotten. So, when the center reopened, Ali was among the first to return.
Now, Ali is back where he belongs. His teachers work with him as they do with every other student, ensuring he grows, learns, and thrives. His progress is a testament to what safe, inclusive spaces can do.
Ali’s story is one of resilience—but it is also a reminder that without support, children like him can be left without options. Our center stands as the bridge between struggle and opportunity, but we need help to keep that bridge strong.
Please help us to keep up with our special need school, to support Ali and other children in need. Thank you 💙
