Argentinian Folklore Workshop: Chacarera & Zamba with Santiago Arias & Sebastián Castro

📍 Punto de Encuentro, Josefstrasse 102, Zürich (1st floor)

Join us for a 4-hour workshop for musicians of all instruments and levels

Together, we’ll explore two of the most representative rhythms of Argentine folklore - Chacarera and Zamba - combining technical insights with hands-on practice. We’ll then put it all into action by playing popular songs together in an ensemble.

🎶 Workshop contents
• Body-based rhythmic exercises
• Listening to traditional folklore recordings
• Basic analysis of musical forms
• Group playing and ensemble practice

📚 Workshop materials will be sent to participants in advance.

After the workshop, stay with us for a special evening concert. At 20:00, Santiago Arias & Sebastián Castro will take the stage with their duo project Arias Castro, bringing the sounds and folk traditions of northwestern Argentina to Punto.

_Aus den nordwestargentinischen Provinzen Jujuy und Salta bringen Santiago Arias und Sebastián Castro mit Bandoneon und Gitarre die lebendigen Klänge der argentinischen Folklore zum Leben. Mit eigenen Kompositionen und Arrangements erkundet das Duo traditionelle Rhythmen wie Chacarera, Zamba, Bailecito und Gato und verbindet rhythmische Energie mit feinem musikalischem Zusammenspiel. Verwurzelt in den Landschaften und Traditionen, die sie geprägt haben, lädt ihre Musik zum Zuhören, Fühlen und Tanzen ein._

Join us for the finissage of The Sender Is the Message, a group exhibition bringing together works by Kronokron,Gémangue, Agustín Rincón Méndez,Luis Lumbreras,Miguel Carbajal, Omar Villa
The exhibition closes on Saturday, 17 October, with an afternoon of art, music and drinks.
For the finissage, Myshkins will perform live,to send off the exhibition with a bang.

Myren, is a term used to describe a nordic landscape, like a form of bog or swamp. Overgrown, tangled and somewhat impossible to walk through. But calls for you to come closer, from a far. A place where water and earth co-exist. The space in-between. The Bern based Duo, Naemi and Elsa, invites you to a sonic sphere
inspired by a place where water and earth co-exist, like a bog or swamp. Strings, soundscapes, voice and storytelling unravel the space in-between, immersive and changing. Inspired by the raw landscapesthat surround us. Dreamy, sincere and submersive.

Myren ist ein Begriff für eine nordische Landschaft – eine Art Moor oder Sumpf. Überwuchert, verworren und fast unmöglich zu durchqueren. Und doch ruft er dich aus der Ferne näher. Ein Ort, an dem Wasser und Erde koexistieren. Der Raum dazwischen.
Davon inspiriert, entführt das Bern-basierte Duo, Naemi und Elsa, in eine klangliche Sphäre. Saiten, Soundscapes, Stimme und Erzählungen entfalten den Raum dazwischen – immersiv und
wandelbar. Inspiriert von den rauen Landschaften, die uns umgeben. Traumhaft, ehrlich und tief eintauchend.
