Across Tanzania 🇹🇿, young mothers are boldly shaping their futures and inspiring their communities along the way.
Meet Matrida 👩🏿, one of the many young mothers who transformed their ambitions into self-employment through the Skills for Employment Tanzania (SET) project, financed by Swiss Development & Cooperation (SDC) through the Embassy of Switzerland in Tanzania.
Matrida said 💬, “I completed my secondary school education but could not pursue further studies. I stayed at home helping my parents with household work. During that time, I became pregnant, and my partner did not support me. I struggled to raise my baby with the help of my parents. But everything changed when I joined the food processing training from SET, which opened a new path for me.”
➡️ Through SET, more than 10,700 youth have participated in market‑relevant vocational skills training, 74% of whom are female—empowering them to become self‑employed and drive positive change in their communities.
➡️ Girls like Matrida are breaking barriers, mastering new skills, and proving that when women rise, communities rise with them.
