Student Network Tibet (SNT ) ist ein Studierendenverein der Universität Zürich, der allen Studierenden an einer Schweizer Hochschule offen steht.

Das Student Network Tibet (SNT) wurde in den 80er Jahren von Studenten an der UZH gegründet. Nach zeitweiser Inaktivität wurde der Verein im Frühling 2016 wiederbelebt. Es ist uns ein Anliegen, Tibet wieder ins Gespräch zu bringen und vor dem Vergessen zu bewahren. SNT versteht sich als dynamische und offene Plattform für einen kritischen, breit angelegten Austausch zur aktuellen Lage in Tibet und

in der tibetischen Diaspora, aber auch zur tibetischen Geschichte und Kultur. Wir möchten uns insbesondere für die Einhaltung der Menschenrechte in Tibet einsetzen und die entsprechenden Konflikte und Spannungsfelder von möglichst vielen Perspektiven aus beleuchten. Wir beabsichtigen daher, ein möglichst breites Publikum an der Uni zu erreichen, indem wir verschiedene kreative Anlässe organisieren wollen.

Our general meeting took place on the 17th of April, where we came together to reflect on past events, share key insights, and set our goals for the future. It was great to see so many new faces joining us, alongside welcoming our new co-presidents and board members - we’re excited for the ideas and energy they’ll bring. 🤩

A BIG thank you to our departing co-presidents and board members for their hard work and dedication to SNT.🫶🏻

We wrapped up the day by enjoying some food🍕 and
playing an intense round of werewolf🐺 Here’s to another unforgettable semester — and to quote our new co-presidents: let’s create great memories together! 🥳

We had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the art and craft of incredibly talented young artists, who express themselves so passionately and with so much heart. A reminder that art is not just seen or heard - it is felt. Our deep gratitude to the artists for letting us glimpse into their world!🦋

Impressions of our Tibtalk with Mr. Kangrang💫
We had the pleasure of learning about Mr. Kangrang's time as a student of Buddhist Philosophy in Varanasi - the city where Buddha gave his first teachings. We were introduced to one of the most complex philosophy topics: Madhyamaka, which is translated as "The Middle Way", meaning it is an approach that deems the nature of existence as neither eternal nor nihilistic. It rather explains that all phenomena exist interdependently, devoid of any inherent or permanent self - hence the term "emptiness" (sanskrit: śūnyatā). Mr. Kangrang kindly illustrated these concepts with relatable examples and how Tibetan Debate is incredibly helpful in transforming blind faith into conviction.
We thank Mr. Kangrang for his engagement and valuable insights and also all attendants for deliberating on the big questions of life together.🪷
