At HEMLATA our skills based training academy focusses on empowering our young Scholars with confidence and self-worth and inspires them to take on challenges, motivating them to be leaders for the future.

One such example is HEMLATA Scholar 2023 Navfia, who learnt to step out of her comfort zone and take on challenges with Hackathons and various competitions.
We are delighted to share some amazing news from, Navfia in her own words:

“I’m excited to share some fantastic news! Recently, my teammate and I took part in the Red Bull Basement, an international competition designed to nurture innovative ideas from young talents. With more than 172 participants from my college alone, the competition was fierce. After navigating through several rounds of selection, today, I’m proud to announce that we are among the Top 8 Finalists in India and the only representatives from Tamil Nadu.

Our next challenge is the National Finals in Hyderabad on November 17th, where we’ll compete for the opportunity to represent India on the global stage in Tokyo. This experience is particularly special for me, as it marks my first-ever flight, fully sponsored by Red Bull. Achieving this through my own hard work is incredibly fulfilling, especially since I’ve taken pride in independently funding my college education.
If we succeed in this round, we’ll have the chance to join a three-week Accelerator Program in Los Angeles and Silicon Valley.

Please wish us luck as we strive to make our mark internationally. Celebrating this journey feels like a major accomplishment, and I’m thankful for every step that the HEMLATA community has helped me take to reach this point.
The experience of independence and the ability to pursue my goals on my own began with the support of this community. Even though this may seem like a small victory, I never imagined that I would be flying solo. Exciting things are happening, and I’m truly grateful to all of you. I can confidently say that the HEMLATA community has played a significant role in shaping my journey and fueling my desire for greater independence!”

At HEMLATA H100Impact, we believe that is a requirement before we can speak about .

We are aware that is the access to and distribution of a set of resources evenly across individuals.

But equity helps even the playing field so that access to resources is distributed evenly based on need.

We are always proud when we see how H100 Alumni are progressing! H100Scholar Saranya is an Alumni of HEMLATA-H100 Impact Academy.
Saranya entered the program in the year of our launch and went on to complete her B.Com (Hons.), graduating from the H100 Impact program in 2021. She is currently working at Deluxe Entertainment.

Saranya’s interest in sketching resulted in her creating beautiful portraits of her .100 Buddies. Her drawings are expressive and filled with movement as she attempts to discover her own individual style. She works with Micron pens and averages a total of 3 hours to finish each piece, which happens in one go.

When Saranya received her at H100Impact, she was paired with H100 Mentor Fischbacher, an artist, with a keen interest in art, textiles and photography.

In Saranya’s own words: “ As life progresses, we tend to discover new activities that interest us, which shifts the focus from things that we grew up doing. Sketching is my therapy as it helps in channeling my energy to create something beautiful. My mentors from Hemlata always showed appreciation for my art, which thoroughly enabled me to pursue it without ever giving up on it.”

The HEMLATA 100 Impact Academy is proud to announce Mathy (Vanmathy) Sommer as host Lecturer for our upcoming seminar on the topic “Future of HR”.

Scholars will learn about topics relating to current HR tools and processes, how HR helps to build organizations of the future along with skills and competencies related to the future of work and HR. Thank you, dear Mathy, for your engagement towards HEMLATA’s E-learning initiative.

Mathy Sommer is a seasoned Business Executive with a career spanning roles in HR Operations, RPO/MSP Solution Design and Client Relationship Management in industries such as Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Goods.
She grew up in Sri Lanka and India and has worked in Switzerland and the UK. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Management and a Swiss HR Diploma.

Meet HEMLATA H100 Scholar Priya Kumari, class of 2022.

Dedicated and disciplined in her approach, putting 100% into her work and studies, Priya understands the value and power of education to make her dreams come true. With the help of HEMLATA’s scholarship, Priya has recently received admission to Chandigarh University, where she is pursuing her Bachelors in Commerce as she wishes to pursue a career in Finance.

Priya Kumari comes from a small town in Jharkhand, India. As a first-generation student in her family to go to college, Priya recognizes the power and importance of a girl being educated in a patriarchal society and wants to make the best use of the opportunities given to her.

Priya is determined to make her dreams come true so that she can give back to society by helping as many people as possible.

Health needs a holistic approach that takes care of both mind and body. This is what HEMLATA H100 Scholars learnt from our Webinar on Health and Nutrition.

🔸Priya and Nanditha, the nutrition Team at Carer took our Scholars through topics ranging from Gut health to movement and exercise.
🔸Scholars were interested in not just weight loss but also weight gain, how to be energy effective during studies and exams and supplements to add to plan nutrient-rich meals.

🔸HEMLATA’s Horizon Academy hosts webinars on topics that can increase learning and skills so as to befit our Scholars during their college journey.

We asked Samara why she chooses to support HEMLATA’s mission?
In her words:

My learnings across 2 decades in the social sector has taught me the importance of staying agile, questioning concepts and not worrying about tweaking the program to arrive at the best possible impact.

While we do measure our SROI at HEMLATA, I believe our biggest impact is made when I get to see the smiles and achievements of our H100Scholars.

This is what motivates me and my team to keep working, to keep going. Because in truth, nothing is more satisfying than seeing one young girl grown into a confident and independent young woman, supporting not just herself, but her family and community.
