The African Heritage Switzerland was Founded in 2017 by a group of African Women living in Switzerland. The sole purpose is to inspire Africans living in Switzerland and providing a platform for Africans to promote their arts and culture. Each Exhibitor or Artist should identify one of the African countries to represent. Friends of Africa from other countries who appreciates African culture are also welcome to represent any of the African country

Our Mission is to Promote African Arts & Culture

Our main goal is to showcase African cultures in Switzerland. Our organization is devoted to the proliferation and continuation of culture, self-worth, gender equality, empowerment of women, children & youths. integration and a feeling of belonging amongst the African descent worldwide through showcasing of our rich culture. We believe this event will enable Africans in Switzerland to demonstrate their arts and culture.

MEET THE FOUNDER | BEATRICE SCHNELLI-OKELLO

My name is Beatrice Schnelli-Okello, Founder of Miss Nyalenda – Empower the Beauty of Dreams.

I was born and raised in Nyalenda, Kisumu, and have lived in Switzerland since 1987. Even though life took me far from where I started, Nyalenda has always remained a part of me.

Over the years, I have built my life and career in Switzerland while staying connected to Kenya and to the community that shaped me.

As Founder and President of African Heritage Switzerland and Founder of Nyalenda Schnelli Development Group (CBO) in Kenya, I have always believed in giving back and creating opportunities for women, children and young people.

Miss Nyalenda grew from that same passion.

For me, it has never been just about beauty or a crown. It is about confidence, leadership, discovering your potential and giving young women a platform to believe in themselves and dream bigger.

My community and humanitarian work has been recognised in Kenya, Switzerland, Italy and across the African diaspora. Most recently, in August 2026, I was honoured as African Woman of the Year 2026 at the 15th Edition of The Voice Achievers Award in London, presented by The Voice News Magazine.

I am grateful for every recognition, but what matters most to me is what we do with the opportunities we receive and how we can use them to open doors for others.

I truly believe that where you come from should never determine how far you can go.

Sometimes, all someone needs is an opportunity, someone who believes in them, and a platform from which to dream bigger.

That is what Miss Nyalenda means to me.

African Heritage Switzerland is proud to celebrate our Founder, Beatrice Schnelli-Okello, on receiving the prestigious African Woman of the Year 2026 Award at the 15th edition of The Voice Achievers Awards, held on Friday, 21 August 2026, at the Hilton London Kensington in London.

This recognition celebrates Beatrice’s continued commitment to community development, African heritage, women’s empowerment and creating a positive impact within the African diaspora and beyond.

Organised by The Voice News Magazine, the awards brought together African leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs and community advocates to celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions to Africa and its diaspora.

This year’s theme was: “Putting Africa in the Right Perspective – Focusing on Mental Empowerment for Economic Inclusion and Growth.”

On behalf of African Heritage Switzerland, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Beatrice on this remarkable achievement.

Happy New Year 2026!
As the Founder of and the , I would like to take this special moment, together with my amazing team, to thank all our stakeholders — especially our models, designers, partners, and supporters — for your continued trust, strength, and support over the years.

It has not always been easy. Hosting our fashion events has come with many challenges, especially the high costs of venues and production. But because of your dedication, passion, and belief in our vision, we have remained strong, united, and committed.

In 2025, we took a short but important break to rebrand, reflect, and strategise, so that in 2026 we come back even stronger, more creative, and more impactful. Since 2018, we have remained unique, authentic, and proudly African, and we will continue to celebrate African heritage, culture, and excellence here in Switzerland and beyond.

As the President of African Heritage Switzerland, I had the privilege of meeting with members of the County Government of Kisumu from various sectors to explore potential areas of collaboration in the near future. This important meeting was initiated by Hon. Salmon Orimba. The discussions were very engaging, and I look forward to the implementation phase.

For the third time, I have been invited by the prestigious Africa Premium Awards, Milan!

It was so hard to say goodbye to the Nigerian AHS Expo vendors! I visited them a few times after the expo and assisted where I could in finding a market for their beautiful artwork. Their positivity and hard work enabled them to connect with relevant people and galleries who will promote their work in the near future. Success is sometimes delayed, but patience pays off. We, from African Heritage Switzerland, appreciate you and will ensure we follow up with your future business partners on your behalf. Thank you for the beautiful paintings, each with a rich African history behind it. We wish you a safe journey.

We are honored to announce the support of the County Government of Kisumu, Kenya, for the upcoming African Heritage Expo Switzerland 2024, themed “Bridging Worlds - A Celebration of Africa in Switzerland.” Today, we had the privilege of welcoming seven members of the County Assembly of Kisumu to Zurich. As the President of African Heritage Switzerland and a Kenyan, I am deeply gratified by the backing of the County Government of Kisumu.
