Did you know, that until the end of the 19th century all textiles were coloured with natural materials only?

Nature is amazing! 🌿🧡 She can provide countless beautiful natural pigments for textiles!

🔎 Oak galls?
You might wonder how can an oak tree produce this violet/grey colouring material? Oak tree galls were really famous for inks and also for dyeing textiles. They contain a lot of coloring pigments called tannin. So the galls are crushed, pulverized and purified, so we can use them for dyeing, different minerals help to bind the color pigments to the fabric and fine-tune the color. 🌳😍
