Last week’s roundtable at the European Parliament reaffirmed a critical truth: sport trafficking is a complex, global challenge that demands coordinated multi-stakeholder action.
Organised in partnership with and hosted by .vautmans MEP Hilde Vautmans, Vice-Chair of the Intergroup on Children’s Rights, the dialogue brought together European policymakers, sport bodies and civil society actors to move from awareness to collective, rights-based solutions.
Across perspectives, one message was clear: prevention must be grounded in data, protection must be victim-centred, and governance must be reinforced through multi-stakeholder cooperation. From EU policy and international law to grassroots initiatives and athlete voices, the discussions highlighted both the gaps that remain and the solutions already within reach.
This roundtable marks an important step in advancing collective responsibility across the sporting ecosystem and translating shared commitments into concrete action.
Together, we reaffirm a simple principle: sport must be a path of opportunity, not exploitation.
With thanks to for chairing the roundtable, and all of our speakers for their valuable contributions.
