Some people lend their name to a cause.

Ashleigh lent her attention.

Her questions.

Her time.

We are grateful she found us, and we're proud to stand with her.

Happy Birthday to one of our own, .

They studied your young athlete before they ever made a move.

They noticed the financial pressure at home.

The child who dreams of playing professionally. The one who feels invisible. The one who just wants a chance.

Traffickers are patient. Parents need to be more alert.

Ask your children who they talk to. Remind them that real opportunities don't demand silence or rushing. Teach them that secrecy is a red flag, not a privilege.

Every detail about a contract should be simple and easy to explain.

Share it with someone who needs to hear it today.

The beautiful game has a dark side — and girls are paying the price.

With the FIFA World Cup 2026 on the horizon, is pulling back the curtain on the 4 gendered risks facing young female athletes:

- Predatory Recruitment — False promises that lead girls into danger
- Gender-Based Violence — Abuse hidden behind authority and trust
- Trafficking for Sport — Exploitation disguised as opportunity
- Barriers to Reporting — Silence enforced by fear and broken systems
The world’s biggest sporting stage cannot just celebrate the game; it must protect those who play it.

Swipe to learn. Share to demand change.

From Anne Talaslahti, the mother of the Finnish goalkeeper and UEFA Women's Champions League winner, :

Courage often begins young.

When Katriina left home at 13 to pursue her dream of playing football abroad, I felt both immense pride and a mother’s deep concern.

Every girl who leaves home to follow her passion for sport deserves to be surrounded by safe structures, responsible adults, and truly equal opportunities.

Talent and dreams can carry young athletes far, as they have carried Katriina to a successful professional career, now in France and previously in Germany.

But dreams alone are not enough.

It is our responsibility as adults to ensure that these journeys are supported by clear rules, education, protection, and guidance to help young players integrate into new cultures.

Only then can their global sporting dreams grow in a safe and empowering environment.

She left Finland as a teenager with a dream. 🇫🇮

Now, is the first Finnish woman to lift the UEFA Women's Champions League trophy.

Her journey is proof of what happens when talent meets opportunity, and what women's football looks like when it's given the space to grow.

At Mission 89, we believe every woman who steps on that pitch deserves an environment built on fairness, respect, and transparency. Because the game is growing, and its integrity needs to grow with it.

Follow and join the movement to safeguard athletes and fight exploitation in sports.

Happy International Women's Day.

71% of trafficking victims are women, girls and children (United Nations).

On this International Women's Day, Mission 89 stands where the numbers demand action; not just awareness.

We are building the mechanisms. Designing the platforms. Driving the policies.

Because female and young athletes deserve more than inspiration posters; they deserve systemic protection.

The field. The court. The track. Every space where they compete must be a space where they are safe.

This Women's Day, we don't just celebrate - we commit. 💜

Every girl deserves to play. Every girl deserves to be safe. Every girl deserves to be heard.

This , we are doubling down on the systems, structures, and standards that protect young athletes; because safeguarding isn't optional.

It's the foundation everything else is built on.

Safe sport is a right. Full stop.

International Women’s Day is upon us! Give to Gain is not just a theme, it is a strategy.

Featuring Ambassador Keisha McGuire, this issue challenges us to invest, mentor, and open doors for other women.

Because when one woman rises with intention, many rise with her.

Read. Be inspired. Pass it on.

Last week’s roundtable at the European Parliament reaffirmed a critical truth: sport trafficking is a complex, global challenge that demands coordinated multi-stakeholder action.

Organised in partnership with and hosted by .vautmans MEP Hilde Vautmans, Vice-Chair of the Intergroup on Children’s Rights, the dialogue brought together European policymakers, sport bodies and civil society actors to move from awareness to collective, rights-based solutions.

Across perspectives, one message was clear: prevention must be grounded in data, protection must be victim-centred, and governance must be reinforced through multi-stakeholder cooperation. From EU policy and international law to grassroots initiatives and athlete voices, the discussions highlighted both the gaps that remain and the solutions already within reach.

This roundtable marks an important step in advancing collective responsibility across the sporting ecosystem and translating shared commitments into concrete action.
Together, we reaffirm a simple principle: sport must be a path of opportunity, not exploitation.

With thanks to for chairing the roundtable, and all of our speakers for their valuable contributions.
