We use the power of Basketball to initiate positive change

The FIBA Foundation was founded in 2008 by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The Foundation addresses the role of sports, in particular Basketball, in the fields of community building, education, health and well-being, as well as conflict resolution. The Foundation promotes the values and cultural heritage of Basketball as a vector for change and develops inclusive programs to tackle pressing issues that affect children and youth in the concerned communities. The programs are initiated by the Foundation and implemented in partnership with FIBA’s member federations, local NGOs and partners with the aim of supporting collaboration between local actors and to drive economic growth in the relevant region.

On , we’re shining a light on Omnivers , a project helping young athletes in North Macedonia build mental resilience both on and off the court.

Through athlete-centred workshops, inspiring conversations, and powerful stories shared by players, captains, and referees, the initiative created a safe space to discuss the psychological challenges athletes face. 💬

Because performance isn’t only physical. Mental well-being, confidence, recovery, and support all play a role in helping athletes thrive. 💙

🏀 When girls take the court, they change the game. ✨

Through its Basketball for Gender Equality project, Action des Volontaires d’Innovation pour le Développement empowered 420 young people across 10 schools along Lake Tanganyika, using basketball to promote confidence, help girls challenge stereotypes, find their voice, and dream bigger. 💜

Supported by the FIBA Foundation through the Propose a Project platform, the initiative helped break cultural barriers, increased girls’ participation in sport, and strengthened community awareness. 💪🏾
