As part of the on-going efforts to help those affected by the current floods in Sri Lanka, Sahana Sri Lanka is partnering with the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Colombo Hub to carry out immediate relief efforts and assist those affected by the torrential rains and landslides. Over 350’000 people have been affected and hundreds of families are still missing. Needs include water, medicines, bedding, cleaning items/disinfectant, torches, candles and matches in the coming weeks. While Sahana Sri Lanka will fund this initiative, the Colombo Shapers will implement it on the ground. 20 full-year Scholarships for talented underprivileged students in Sri Lanka:

The project aims at providing scholarships to disadvantaged children who are at risk of not being able to continue with their education because of financial difficulties. Scholarships include the provision of school fees, extra classes, books, stationery, uniforms and transport where needed. All students are monitored regularly to ensure that academic achievement and dedication to study is maintained. With this initiative, we strive to guide children towards securing gainful employment and thereby enabling them to be productive members of the community. The project was funded by a group of final-year students from Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne who raised nearly 3'000 Swiss francs for this wonderful initiative.

"On May 30th, my colleagues from Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne and I will drive up to Luxembourg to participate in the 10th edition of the Night Marathon. For each km we run, sponsors will donate money to Sahana Sri Lanka.Those funds will be used for the development of a computer training center in a rural area of Sri Lanka.
