Franklin Switzerland

Franklin Switzerland Franklin Switzerland is a US- and Swiss-accredited nonprofit university based in Lugano, CH.

Franklin Switzerland is located on a hillside above Lugano, the principal city of Switzerland’s southernmost Italian-speaking canton of Ticino. An American liberal arts institution in an international environment, Franklin is fully accredited in the United States by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and in Switzerland by the Swiss Universit

y Conference. Franklin places extraordinary emphasis on cross-cultural perspectives, an emphasis designed to affect the direction and meaning of a student’s college experience, life and career. A commitment to courses of study that are international in perspective and cross-cultural in content has been the cornerstone of our educational mission since our founding in 1969. In fact, we classify this need as the international imperative in education. Franklin Switzerland awards the Bachelor of Arts degree in a number of academic areas, each enhanced by the opportunities afforded by our European location, as well as the exemplary qualifications of our faculty.

Missing home is hard, but missing out on the world might be harder. 🌍

These are some of the most formative years of a person's life. Choose a university that doesn't just take students away from home, but brings them closer to the world.

A place where they can live in the heart of Europe, build friendships with people from all over the globe, and learn by experiencing places firsthand—not just reading about them.

👉️ At Franklin, Academic Travel is part of every student's degree. Students spend the semester studying a country, culture, region, or global issue in class, then travel there with their professor and classmates to experience it firsthand.

Because some lessons are best learned by living them.

If you're an EU or EFTA student, limited places are still available for Fall 2026—but not for much longer. 🎓

Wait... has it really been a month already? 🎓🖤

It feels like yesterday that the Class of 2026 was getting ready to walk across the stage at the LAC, surrounded by family, friends, professors, and classmates.

Today, they're officially Franklin alumni.

One of the most special things about Franklin is that graduation is never really goodbye. Our students become alumni, but they remain part of a community that stretches across generations, countries, and continents ✨

And while we're still smiling at the memories from Commencement, we're also excited for what's next. In just a few months, we'll welcome a new group of students to Lugano — the future Class of 2030.

Could you be one of them?

Access is one of the most underrated luxuries in education.

The opportunity to learn closely with faculty. To follow ideas across disciplines. To ask questions that don't have a single answer.

👉️ In Professor Andra Yount's Exploring Dance and Movement course, students are exploring how movement can open conversations about culture, history, art, identity, and society.

That's one of the strengths of a liberal arts education: understanding that the most interesting questions rarely belong to a single field of study.

When your classroom extends beyond campus into places like Monte Verità, those conversations become even richer.

✨ For Summer Session students, this experience lasts a few weeks. For Franklin students, it's part of everyday life.

⏰️ Applications for Fall 2026 are still open, but the deadline for EU & EFTA students is approaching quickly: https://www.fus.edu/fus-ug-2026

❤️ A heartfelt thank you the KHR McNeely Family Foundation, Kevin, Rosemary, and Hannah Rose McNeely, for supporting this initiative.

There are two things that happen a lot at Franklin 👇️

1️⃣ The first is that people graduate, move away, start careers all over the world... and somehow keep finding reasons to come back.

Last week, alumnus Davide Dukcevich '96 welcomed Rob Cox, Co-Founder of Breakingviews, journalist, and editor, into his Summer Session course.

2️⃣ The second is that learning doesn't really have an off season here.

Summer Session is in full swing, students are on campus, guest speakers keep joining classes, and conversations about business, entrepreneurship, current events, and global issues keep happening long after the spring semester ends.

That's one of our favorite things about Franklin.

🎓️ Ready to be part of it? Applications for Fall 2026 are still open 🎓! https://www.fus.edu/fus-ug-2026

Fall 2026 applications are still open ✨

If Franklin feels like the right fit, now is the time.

What if Summer Session meant more than earning credits? At Franklin, it can mean living in Morocco, learning Arabic, exploring local traditions, and experiencing another culture from the inside. 🌍🇲🇦

Right now, a group of students is spending a month in Rabat, Morocco through an immersive summer program led by Professor Patrick Saveau.

They are living with local families, learning Moroccan Arabic, exploring medinas, discussing literature in the places it references, taking part in workshops, listening to Sufi music performances, and experiencing Moroccan culture through everyday life and human connection.

This program is built around experiential learning: understanding culture not from the outside, but by living inside it.

Some lessons stay in your notes. Others stay with you for life.
