Today is the start of the Advanced Course on Hip Surgery in Children and Adolescents, organised by EPOS - European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society and Sociedad Chilena de Ortopedia Traumatología SCHOT.

Taking place in Santiago, Chile, this practical course covers:

→ Periacetabular Osteotomy (PAO)
→ Pelvic Osteotomies – Small Pelvis

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. José de Mesquita Montes on August 26, 2026, one of the founding members of EPOS.

He was 90 years old. A man of unbounded wit and charm, Dr. Mesquita Montes possessed a warmth of character and a genuine care for others that deeply endeared him to his patients, colleagues, friends, and family alike.

The EPOS Research Grants support a broad range of research areas, including patient-based studies, clinical and basic science research, and clinical trials.

Paediatric Orthopaedics Basic II is the final part of the 9th EPOS BAT Course Trilogy. The course is aimed at residents who want to improve their understanding of children’s orthopaedics and also at all orthopaedic surgeons who wish to update their knowledge.

This course will provide a greater understanding of children’s orthopaedics via a problem-solving approach to the diagnosis and management of neuro-orthopaedics, spine, upper limb, tumours and musculoskeletal infections in children, based on the faculty’s experience and best current evidence.
