The Mercury Phoenix Trust, set up in 1992 in memory of Freddie Mercury, is responsible for raising awareness & funds in the global fight against AIDS.

The Mercury Phoenix Trust was founded by Brian May, Roger Taylor, and their manager Jim Beach in memory of rock band Queen’s iconic lead singer FREDDIE MERCURY who died in 1991 from AIDS. In the last 30 years, the Trust has given away over £17 million in his name and funded over 1500 projects in the global battle against HIV/AIDS. We need your support to maintain our present donor level and to kee

p funding the desperately needed HIV/AIDS initiatives globally. Together, help us to use Freddie’s memory, charisma, and drive to eradicate this disease. We give to a wide range of Education and Awareness projects, principally targeting young people in the developing world. The 18 million orphans who have lost one or both parents to AIDS are in desperate need of help as they struggle to survive and build their lives, often becoming ‘head of the family’ for their smaller siblings. This disease impacts the whole community, down to the grandparents who find themselves caring for their dead children’s children. They too need aid and information. The way to combat this disease is through knowledge. Although we give to the large NGOs and well-known charities, the greater part of our funding goes directly to small grassroots organisations which the bigger charities tend to overlook, and where we feel the recipients will achieve value for money. The projects we fund are spread across the globe and in total, we have now given to projects in 57 countries – wherever we can help we do.

Freddie Gets an Early 80th Birthday Present!

With the agreement of Jim Beach, the Commune of Montreux has replaced the marble on Freddie Mercury's statue plinth.

Looking magnificent once again, overlooking the beautiful Lake Geneva, Freddie is ready to welcome fans from around the world as celebrations for his 80th birthday continue to gather pace.

A fitting refresh for one of the world's most visited music landmarks.

***The Official Freddie Mercury Birthday Party 2026: IMPORTANT UPDATE - Wristband Collection Process Updated - PLEASE READ and SHARE***

Entry to the party is by wristband only. Wristbands must be collected in person from the Information Desk located in the upstairs foyer outside the main party room at Casino Barrière.

Please bring your ticket order receipt when collecting your wristband. Wristbands will not be mailed.

NEW: The collection process has been updated for 2026 to help ensure a smooth and efficient experience. Wristband pick-up will now operate across TWO queues based on the first letter of your surname:

A – N: Guests whose surnames begin with the letters A to N

O – Z: Guests whose surnames begin with the letters O to Z

Please join the appropriate queue when collecting your wristband. Members of the MPT Team will be on hand to assist and direct guests if required.

We recommend collecting your wristband as early as possible to help avoid queues before the party begins.

Sutton Theatre Company Supports The Mercury Phoenix Trust

For one week in May, Sutton Theatre Company brought the hit musical We Will Rock You to the beautiful Epsom Playhouse, delighting audiences with a fantastic production in the heart of Epsom.

Ahead of the performances, cast member Steve Watkins contacted The Mercury Phoenix Trust to ask if the company could support the charity through collections during the show's run. We were delighted to attend the opening night and were blown away by the talent, energy, and professionalism of the entire cast. It was a truly memorable evening and one of the finest amateur productions of We Will Rock You that that we have had the pleasure of seeing.

Thanks to the generosity of audiences throughout the week, the company raised an impressive £410 for The Mercury Phoenix Trust. For a theatre of its size, this was a wonderful achievement and a testament to the enthusiasm and dedication of everyone involved.

Our sincere thanks to Sutton Theatre Company, the cast, crew, and audiences for their incredible support. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to helping us continue our fight against HIV/AIDS worldwide.
