*Update from Uganda 🇺🇬*

Our team from AdventRelief International were able to pay a site visit to the Kyaka II Medical Centre in the Kyaka II Refugee Settlement this past week. It was good to rejoin our site team and see the wonderful work being done there.
Our clinic, operated through a partnership with Ishaka Adventist Hospital and ADRA Uganda is running at full capacity seeing around 4000 patients every month. Due to funding cuts in the region, many of the other clinics have closed and as a result we have been overrun - especially the paediatric inpatient area that treats hundreds of very sick children each month - mostly with severe malaria and malnutrition.
Keeping this clinic funded and staffed is a huge challenge but we are thankful that we have been able to maintain this essential service for this vulnerable community due to ongoing donor support.
The deadly Ebola outbreak in North Kivu in the DRC is near and we pray for the safety of our team as they maintain this important service.

* Update from Ukraine 🇺🇦 *

We’d like to thank two members of our team - paramedic Rauri from Ireland and nursing sister Anna from Ukraine - for running a very successful Basic Life Support course for staff members of our partner organisation Nehemia. Hands-on first aid training like this saves lives.
Nehemia is a wonderful Ukrainian nonprofit that cares for orphans, displaced persons and vulnerable population groups in Ukraine and we look forward to collaborating with them in future community projects in Ukraine.

* Update from Ukraine 🇺🇦 *
Our team in Ukraine are focusing on healthcare for children’s shelters, care homes and orphanages this year. We were able to run a successful dental clinic with our new partners at Child Protection Services in Carpathia Region this month. We hope to replicate this program in more facilities in the region!
If you’d like to support these clinics visit our website at AdventRelief.org.

*Update from Ukraine 🇺🇦*

Our mobile dental clinic has recommenced services in the war torn Kharkiv region of eastern Ukraine, where many rural communities have minimal access to medical services.

We thank Dr Mark our dentist for the many hours of work put in!
This little boy was our first patient 😇

*Update from Uganda 🇺🇬*
January and February marked two of our busiest months to date for our team in Uganda with well over 6000 patients receiving treatment in our facility, including many children with severe malaria.
It is a challenging time to keep humanitarian programs like ours funded, with war in the Middle East, and with extensive closure of funding progams for the humanitarian sector. Even though there is little media coverage, the situation in regions like Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo remain dismal, with thousands being displaced from their homes each month due to sectarian violence.
Our focus in Uganda remains on provision of health services for the most vulnerable - children.

If you’d like to donate or get involved please visit our website at AdventRelief.org.

*Meet the Ukraine team - Dr Nataliia Stupak 🇺🇦*

Dr Nataliia is from Kharkiv - a city near the eastern Russian frontline that is under constant bombardment. She is a highly experienced medical doctor with a specialization in clinical psychiatry. She has been working in the humanitarian sector for years, with a special interest in mental healthcare for people in conflict areas - especially children.

Dr Nataliia has been spearheading our mental health program in Ukraine since October 2025. Thanks to her and the team on the ground we have been providing critically needed mental health services to displaced individuals and families from the eastern frontline, many who have lost family members, homes and livelihoods, or who have been injured in the fighting.

A particular focus area of our interventions has been the thousand of children living in orphanages across Ukraine - many who have arrived from eastern frontline villages - especially the Donetsk region. As a therapist, Natalia is focused on creating a safe space where traumatised children can express their emotions, manage their complex thought processes and develop strategies to deal with trauma without pressure or re-traumatization. She uses individual and group therapy sessions to help them process emotions, reduce anxiety, and restore a sense of safety and stability through play and creative activities.

The war has had a significant toll on children in Ukraine. Studies have shown that around 44% of children demonstrate symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as severe anxiety, depression and acute stress reactions.

We would like to thank her and the team on the ground for their devotion to this much much needed work, often at risk to their own safety. We hope to be able to expand this much needed health service to more vulnerable communities in Ukraine this year.

If you would like to help sponsor this work please visit our website at AdventRelief.org/donate.

*Update from Uganda 🇺🇬 *

It’s been a challenging and busy year for our medical team at Kyaka II Medical Centre in Western Uganda, in a settlement of around 150 000 refugees mostly from the troubled North Kivu region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

During 2025 the outpatient department treated 33 600 patients, including 15 600 malaria patients. 4600 children were treated for moderate to severe malnutrition, 950 women received antenatal care, and our paediatric inpatient area was able to admit and treat over 1099 very ill children, many who would have died without access to intravenous antimalarials.

We thank the team on the ground for all the hard work put in, and our kind donors who sponsor this much needed facility.

*Update from Uganda🇺🇬*

Our management team has just completed another very productive support visit to our refugee clinic in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement in Western Uganda.
The clinic is busy! At any given time the wards are full to capacity with very sick children. The facility has treated nearly 30 000 patients since January, including around 10 000 malaria cases. We thank the capable team on the ground for all the hard work put in to keep this 24 hour service going. We are hoping to be able to expand inpatient services and to provide maternity services as well.
Operated through a very successful partnership between AdventRelief International, Ishaka Adventist Hospital and ADRA Uganda, this facility provides comprehensive health services to a settlement of nearly 150 000 refugees from the DR Congo as well as local host community.
Our focus is mainly on paediatric malaria and malnutrition, but our 22 person team provide a host of other essential outpatient services.

We were accompanied by Erik Kramer from the Netherlands - he represents a wonderful fundraising team working in partnership with ADRA Netherlands, and who have raised extensive funds for medicines for the clinic. We are very grateful to them and other unnamed donors - your donations are saving thousands of children’s lives each month.
