Founded on the *8th February 1874* by Stefano Gatti, in this picture with his brother Agostino.
For 150 years, the UT has provided significant support and has been a point of reference for emigrants from the Swiss Italian Canton of Ticino, and their descendants, eager to maintain language, culture, and traditions in London. Friendship, heritage, and innovation have been constant values of the Society through the centuries. Nowadays, the UT welcomes anyone who feels a fondness and appreciation for the Italian part of Switzerland. The UT is a key player in the Swiss community in the UK, and actively contributes to the activities of its umbrella organisations, Pro Ticino and FOSSUK. During this historic year, the role of the UT as a vibrant conduit, fostering relations between Ticino and the UK, is being rejuvenated, and strengthened.
A heartfelt thank you to those who have tirelessly contributed towards supporting, creating and delivering this celebration and much more, to our members for their continuous support, and to our many sponsors and partners, whose contribution have allowed us to mark the UT Jubilee with an extensive and varied programme, in particular the Embassy of Switzerland in the UK and the Republic and Canton of Ticino .
