Curious, beginner, amateur, pro, Grand Master we welcome everyone that want to learn, practice or play! Here are some personal benefits that you can acquire by playing chess:
Pattern recognition, memory, concentration, logical thinking and imagination will all be developed. It will teach you to be independent, by forcing you to make important decisions influenced only by your own judgement. Chess
will also teach you planning and foresight, since to win you need to analyse every move of your opponent and anticipate his future moves. Chess will test your patience, nerves and will power. It will enhance your ability to make the right decision and to have the right strategy in a competitive environment. Here is what it can bring to EHL:
-A significant enhancement in its image, since every top university have a chess committee (Harvard, MIT, etc.).
-Having the possibility to play chess while sipping on a glass of win during a WeWin event.
-Chess tournament in EHL, where students and professor will be able to play. Or imagine the best EHL chess player competing against the best from Glion... wouldn't that be interesting?
-Finally we could invite famous chess players like Kasparov, to have a speech about any business type theme related to chess, like how to build up a strategy. If you have any other ideas, feel free to share them with us! In conclusion here's a little advice...
Each possible moves represent a different game, a different univers in which you make a better move. By the 2nd move there are 72'084 possible games, by the 3rd... 9'000'000, by the 4th... 318'000'000'000. There are more possible games of chess than there are atoms in the univers, no one can possibly predict them all. Which means that the first move can be terrifying... and that you should follow your intuition. But it also means that if you make a mistake there's a nearly infinite amount of ways to fix it...
So you should simply relax and play.
