ISA Gear Standards & Safety label
The ISA Safety Commission has developed gear standards for slacklining equipment. The standards are minimal requirements and a description of tests the equipment have to pass in order to get the ISA Safety Label. These tests are performed by ISA and gear manufacturer Independent Labs. The Safety Label is then printed on the manual, added to the manufacturer’s website, and to the product itself.
There are currently six ISA Gear Standards:
ISA: 37 Highline Leash
ISA: 41 Highline Webbing
ISA: 51 Webbing Locker
ISA: 52 Connectors
ISA: 53 Slings
ISA: 61 Webbing Grab
🔬Some of the tests that weblocks have to pass are:
Overall quality – edges, pins and markings.
Weblock tie-off method against slippage.
Ability to retain webbing strength.
Break test with a minimum breaking strength (MBS) of 48+ kN .
Currently, there are only five ISA approved weblocks:
Aki Slacklines’ Lynx 5, Balance Community’s Alpine Weblock 5.1, Slack Inov’s Zenlock, SlackX’ Orange, and Slacktivity’s Seahorse.

ISA-certified highline gear guarantees that your equipment has been independently tested to survive the real-world forces of highlining. It is also a way to support manufactures who guarantee the safety and quality of their gear. For manufacturers, certifying their gear can help to stand out amongst the competition, gain trust within the community, limit legal liabilities, and gain access to markets requiring certified equipment.
