Baghdad’s New Icon: Rixos Hotel Reaches 60%

The amazing new Rixos Baghdad Hotel and Residences is officially on its way to changing the city's luxury scene, with building works now over 60% complete. Perfectly located in the heart of Baghdad's Green Zone.

This spectacular project is being developed by the well-known Qatari company, Estithmar Holding, to bring a world-class hospitality experience to Iraq. The ultra-luxury hotel will be managed and operated by the famous French group Accor, one of the biggest names in hospitality globally with more than 5,800 properties worldwide. Designed to beautifully mix Iraq's rich history with modern architecture, the hotel is scheduled to open its doors in early 2027. Once completed, this massive complex will offer 322 elegant hotel rooms, 159 premium residences for luxury living, 9 private hotel villas, and 6 fantastic international restaurants with unique dining choices. The project is already getting international attention and recently won the "Luxury Project of the Year" award at the Construction Innovation Awards 2025 in Dubai. As this beautiful building continues to rise, it does not just reshape Baghdad's skyline, but it also signals a very bright and prosperous future for tourism in Iraq, welcoming global travelers and investors to be part of this incredible journey.

Major Infrastructure Development in Iraq: Basra Seawater Desalination Project

Iraq has launched one of its most significant water infrastructure projects, the Basra Seawater Desalination Project, aimed at addressing long-standing water challenges in southern Iraq.

The project is expected to produce around 1 million cubic meters of potable water per day, supplying millions of residents in Basra with a reliable and sustainable source of drinking water.

With an estimated investment of approximately USD 4 billion, the project includes a large-scale desalination facility near Al-Faw, a dedicated power generation plant, and an extensive pipeline network to distribute water across the Basra Governorate.

Once operational, the project will play a key role in strengthening water security, improving public health, and supporting long-term economic development in the region.
