The Committee for Justice (CFJ) is an independent human rights organization based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Founded in 2015, CFJ works to document violations, support victims, and promote accountability, with a focus on North Africa and the Sahel region. لجنة العدالة هي جمعية مستقلة للدفاع عن حقوق الإنسان ومقرها في جنيف بسويسرا.وقام بتأسيس اللجنة مجموعة متنوعة من المدافعين عن حقوق الإنسان في 2015 . وتهدف لجنة العدالة إلى تمكين المجتمع الدولي ومنظمات المجتمع المدني ومراكز المعرفة من تقديم حلول للقضايا المتعلقة بحقوق الإنسان في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا لتحقيق العدالة للضحايا والحصول على التعويضات لهم والوقوف ضد الإفلات من العقاب لمرتكبي انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان.

: The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has condemned the rulings issued by the Khartoum East Court “B”, which sentenced five individuals to death by hanging, including one foreign national, in addition to sentencing three others to five years’ imprisonment, after convicting them on charges related to cooperation with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), waging war against the state, and undermining the constitutional order.

#السودان: نظمت لجنة العدالة اجتماعًا بين المفوضة ماريا تيريزا مانويل، المقررة الخاصة المعنية بالسجون وظروف الاحتجاز والشرطة في إفريقيا لدى اللجنة الإفريقية لحقوق الإنسان والشعوب، وعدد من منظمات المجتمع المدني السودانية، وذلك على هامش الدورة العادية السابعة والثمانين للجنة الإفريقية في بانجول.

وقد أتاح الاجتماع فرصة مهمة للمنظمات السودانية لإحاطة المقررة الخاصة بشكل مباشر بالتدهور المتسارع في أوضاع الاحتجاز والحرمان من الحرية وممارسات الشرطة في السودان، لا سيما في المناطق المتأثرة بالنزاع المسلح والمناطق الخاضعة لسيطرة قوات الدعم السريع.

: The Committee for Justice (CFJ) organized a meeting between Hon. Commissioner Maria Teresa Manuela, Special Rapporteur on Prisons, Conditions of Detention and Policing in Africa at the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR), and Sudanese civil society organizations, on the margins of the 87th Ordinary Session of the ACHPR in Banjul.

The meeting provided an important opportunity for Sudanese organizations to brief the Special Rapporteur directly on the rapidly deteriorating situation of detention, policing, and deprivation of liberty in Sudan, particularly in areas affected by the ongoing armed conflict and under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

#السودان: رصدت لجنة العدالة تصاعد الانتهاكات الجنسية بحق النساء والفتيات النازحات من مدينة الفاشر إلى منطقة طويلة بولاية شمال دارفور، وسط مخاوف متزايدة من تفاقم أوضاع الحماية داخل مواقع النزوح.

ووفق ما رصدته لجنة العدالة، وثقت جهات حقوقية محلية، أكثر من 15 حالة اغ**اب خلال الأسابيع الماضية، بينها حالات لفتيات قاصرات ونساء من ذوات الاحتياجات الصحية، فيما تشير التقديرات إلى أن العدد الفعلي قد يكون أكبر بسبب إحجام العديد من الأسر عن الإبلاغ خشية الوصمة الاجتماعية.

: The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented a rise in sexual violence against women and girls displaced from the city of El Fasher to the area of Tawila in North Darfur State, amid growing concerns over the deterioration of protection conditions in displacement sites.

According to CFJ’s documentation, local human rights organizations have documented more than 15 cases of r**e in recent weeks, including cases involving minor girls and women with health vulnerabilities, while estimates suggest that the actual number may be higher due to underreporting linked to social stigma.

#مصر: نحن، المنظمات الموقّعة أدناه، ندين بشدة استمرار احتجاز المخرج وكاتب السيناريو المصري عمر صلاح مرعي، ونطالب بالإفراج الفوري وغير المشروط عنه، وإسقاط جميع التهم الموجّهة إليه، وإغلاق القضية رقم 3835 لسنة 2026 حصر أمن دولة عليا.

وتعرب المنظمات عن قلقها البالغ إزاء التدهور الخطير في حالته الصحية نتيجة حرمانه من العلاج والرعاية الطبية اللازمة منذ إلقاء القبض عليه في 11 مايو 2026. وكان مرعي قد تعرّض للاختفاء القسري لعدة أيام قبل عرضه على نيابة أمن الدولة العليا في 16 مايو، والتي قررت حبسه احتياطيًا لمدة 15 يومًا على ذمة التحقيق، بتهم تتعلق بنشر “أخبار كاذبة”، على خلفية آرائه المنشورة عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، والتي تضمنت طرحًا نقديًا للوضع العام، إلى جانب آراء تناولت صناعة السينما في مصر، بما في ذلك استخدامه أسلوبًا ساخرًا في التعليق على ما وصفه بالهيمنة على السرديات المقدَّمة في صناعة الأعمال الفنية، لاسيما الأفلام والمسلسلات.

: We, the undersigned organisations, strongly condemn the continued detention of Egyptian filmmaker and screenwriter Omar Salah Marei. We call for his immediate and unconditional release, the dropping of all charges against him, and the closure of Case No. 3835 of 2026 (Supreme State Security).

We are gravely concerned over the serious deterioration of Marei’s health as a result of his being denied necessary medical treatment since his arrest on 11 May 2026. He was subjected to enforced disappearance for several days before being brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on 16 May, which ordered his pretrial detention for 15 days pending investigation on charges of “spreading false news,” based solely on his social media posts, which reflected a critical perspective on the broader situation, alongside views addressing Egypt’s film industry, including his use of satire to comment on what he described as the dominance over the narratives shaping artistic productions, particularly in films and television series.
