L’Indonésie planifie sa transition en vue de financer entièrement ses systèmes de santé avec ses propres ressources d’ici 2032, et fait une distinction entre les activités qui peuvent être financées par le pays à court terme et celles qui nécessitent une démarche graduelle ou mixte.

Dirigée par le ministère de la Santé avec le soutien du Fonds mondial, la transition a pour principes fondamentaux la protection des résultats de santé et le maintien des progrès contre le VIH, la tuberculose et le paludisme.

Indonesia is planning its transition to domestically financed health systems through 2032, distinguishing between activities that can be financed domestically in the near term and those requiring a phased or blended approach.

Led by the Ministry of Health and supported by The Global Fund the transition is grounded in protecting health outcomes and sustaining progress against HIV, TB and malaria.

L’oxygène médical sauve des vies. Pourtant, on estime que 60 % de la population mondiale n’a pas accès à des services d’oxygénothérapie abordables et de qualité.

Depuis 2021, The Global Fund a investi près de 570 millions de dollars US dans 95 pays pour renforcer et pérenniser les systèmes d’oxygène, contribuant ainsi à la prise en charge des mères et des nouveau-nés, des enfants souffrant de pneumonie ou des patients nécessitant une chirurgie ou une assistance respiratoire.

Ces investissements ont aidé à sauver des centaines de milliers de personnes qui ont subi des complications à l’accouchement, des urgences néonatales, des traumatismes graves et d’autres problèmes de santé.

Medical oxygen saves lives. Yet an estimated 60% of people worldwide lack access to affordable, quality medical oxygen services.

Since 2021, The Global Fund has invested nearly US$570 million in 95 countries to strengthen and sustain oxygen systems – supporting care for mothers and newborns, children with pneumonia and people needing surgery or respiratory support.

These investments have helped save hundreds of thousands of additional lives from maternal complications, neonatal emergencies, acute trauma and other conditions.

L’hôpital central de Nampula est le seul de sa province à disposer d’une unité de soins intensifs, et il traite à ce titre la plupart des urgences les plus graves touchant les mères et les nouveau-nés dans le nord du Mozambique. Le volume de travail est considérable : jusqu’à 50 accouchements par jour et des services pleins à craquer, où des femmes partagent le même lit et des nouveau-nés le même incubateur.

Quand l’oxygène n’était pas encore produit sur place, il fallait envoyer les bouteilles à 200 km de là pour les faire remplir. Aujourd’hui, grâce aux récents investissements du Fonds mondial et de ses partenaires, l’oxygène et l’air médical comprimé sont produits au sein même de l’hôpital et acheminés directement jusqu’aux services, qui constatent une charge de travail réduite, une baisse des frais et une offre de soins plus fiable.

As the province’s only hospital with intensive care, Nampula Central Hospital takes on the most severe maternal and newborn emergencies in northern Mozambique – the workload is immense, with up to 50 deliveries a day, overcrowded wards, women sharing beds and newborns sharing incubators.

Prior to onsite oxygen production, cylinders had to be taken 200 kilometers away to be refilled. Now, with recent investments from The Global Fund and partners, oxygen and compressed medical air are produced onsite and piped directly to the wards - reducing workload, lowering costs and ensuring a more reliable supply of care.

Why does tuberculosis (TB) still kill millions of people every year – and how can a new generation of near-point-of-care (NPOC) TB tests help close this gap?

In 60 seconds, The Global Fund TB expert Dr. Melanie Kitongo breaks it down:

✅The scale of the diagnostic gap is staggering: Every year, around 2.4 million people who fall ill with TB are missed by health systems – they do not receive lifesaving treatment, and TB continues to spread.

✅Getting tested can come at a high personal cost – paying for transport, taking time off work, and spending time away from family caretaking. Long waits for results can also mean people lose touch with health centers before treatment begins.

✅ NPOC molecular testing can help change that – bringing fast, accurate diagnosis closer to where people first seek care. Some tests can also use tongue swabs instead of sputum samples – making testing accessible for people who struggle to produce sputum.

The Global Fund est la principale organisation multilatérale qui subventionne les systèmes de santé et la préparation aux pandémies, avec des investissements d’environ 5,9 milliards de dollars US dans les systèmes de santé et communautaires au cours de la période 2024-2026.

Ces investissements renforcent les ripostes au VIH, à la tuberculose et au paludisme, tout en aidant les pays à détecter et à contrôler d’autres menaces sanitaires. Les investissements dans la surveillance, les laboratoires et le diagnostic consolident les ripostes à d’autres menaces sanitaires, qu’il s’agisse d’Ebola, de la mpox ou de la résistance aux antimicrobiens. The Global Fund is the world’s largest multilateral grants financier for health systems and pandemic preparedness, investing approximately US$5.9 billion in health and community systems between 2024-2026.

These investments strengthen HIV, tuberculosis and malaria responses while supporting countries to detect and respond to wider health threats. Investments in surveillance, laboratories and diagnostics are strengthening responses to threats ranging from Ebola to mpox to antimicrobial resistance – extending our impact far beyond the three diseases.
