Congratulations to South Africa on the launch of lenacapavir, the twice-yearly injectable PrEP – a historic step forward in the fight to prevent HIV and a powerful example of what is possible when scientific innovation, political leadership and community action come together.

For the first time, a major HIV prevention innovation is being rolled out in low- and middle-income countries at the same time as in high-income countries – an important milestone for health equity.

South Africa is helping shape the future of HIV prevention by showing how breakthrough innovations can be rapidly translated into impact for the communities most affected by HIV.

The scale and speed of this rollout reflect decades of leadership by communities, activists, health workers and public institutions – and a clear commitment to reducing new infections faster and bringing the end of HIV as a public health threat within reach.

Au Mali, malgré les immenses défis à affronter et une instabilité persistante, les femmes continuent d’exiger – et de fournir – des soins qui permettent aux familles et aux communautés de rester en bonne santé.

In Mali, despite immense challenges and ongoing instability, women continue to demand – and deliver – care that keeps families and communities healthy.

With support from The Global Fund, health systems are reaching women and children with lifesaving care in their communities and homes – by strengthening frontline health centers and supporting well-trained community health workers to deliver a broad range of essential services, from maternal and child health care to HIV and malaria prevention and treatment, through integrated, patient-centered care.

Autrefois, les patients diagnostiqués pour une tuberculose pharmacorésistante entamaient un traitement durant jusqu’à 24 mois, ponctué d’injections douloureuses aux effets secondaires très lourds, avec des résultats incertains.

Aujourd’hui, des schémas thérapeutiques plus courts et entièrement oraux, comme le BPaLM, transforment la lutte contre la tuberculose pharmacorésistante. Désormais, les patients peuvent suivre un traitement de seulement six mois, avec des taux de réussite plus élevés, nettement moins de complications et un rétablissement plus rapide.

Les nouveaux schémas tels que le BPaLM permettent de réduire les coûts de traitement et d’obtenir de meilleurs résultats en matière de santé. Le partenariat du The Global Fund à accélérer ce changement en Indonésie et au-delà.

A drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis once meant up to 24 months of treatment, including painful injections, severe side effects and uncertain outcomes.

But now, shorter, all-oral regimens like BPaL/M are transforming the fight against drug-resistant TB. Patients can now complete treatment in just 6 months, with higher success rates, fewer complications and a faster recovery.

Treatments like BPaLM can reduce treatment costs and deliver better health outcomes The Global Fund partnership is helping to drive this shift in Indonesia and beyond.

À travers tout le continent, les jeunes, les agentes et agents de santé, les dirigeants locaux et les partenaires construisent un .

Au Kenya, les enfants sont à la tête de la lutte contre le paludisme, à travers des clubs de santé scolaires. Ils sont des sources d’information fiables qui sensibilisent et font évoluer les comportements grâce à l’art, à la poésie et à l’éducation par les pairs.

« Si nous travaillons main dans la main comme une famille, comme une communauté, nous mettrons un terme à cette maladie, qui est évitable ». Granton Akwaba, 14 ans, est secrétaire du club de santé. Il aspire à devenir neurochirurgien.

Across the continent, young people, health workers, local leaders and partners are building a .

In Kenya, students are stepping up to lead the fight against malaria through school health clubs. As trusted sources of information, they are raising awareness and driving behavior change using art, poetry and peer education.

“If we work hand-in-hand together as a family, as a community, we will end these diseases – diseases that are not necessary.” Granton Akwaba, 14, secretary of the Health Club, and an aspiring neurosurgeon.

« Ce médicament change vraiment la donne. »

En Eswatini, l’infirmière Phumlile a administré plus de 540 doses de lénacapavir (LEN). Ce médicament révolutionnaire est efficace à près de 100 % pour prévenir le VIH.

L’Eswatini a été l’un des deux premiers pays d’Afrique à introduire le LEN, marquant ainsi un tournant historique : pour la première fois, un outil de prévention du VIH était introduit simultanément dans les pays à revenu faible et les pays à revenu élevé.

Avec le soutien du partenariat du The Global Fund et la supervision du personnel infirmier comme Phumlile, le LEN sera déployé dans 24 pays d’ici la fin de l’année : transformant l’innovation en impact et atteignant les personnes qui en ont le plus besoin.

Every lifesaving test, treatment or medical procedure leaves something behind: used bandages, syringes, tests, protective equipment

Yet, it’s estimated that nearly two-thirds of health facilities in low- and middle-income countries still lack proper waste management systems.

In Eswatini, that is changing. A new centralized healthcare waste management facility with a state-of-the-art high temperature incinerator is helping the country safely and effectively manage medical waste locally and for the entire country – replacing outdated systems and the costly export of medical waste.

Built in just 11 months, the new facility is part of a partnership among The Global Fund, Eswatini Government, UNICEF, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, Roche and Mott MacDonald to help strengthen health systems, safeguard communities and deliver lasting value for people and the planet.
