Outside the busy schedule of the International Labour Organization conference, we enjoyed a relaxed afternoon at the offices of SIT, connecting with other workers’ organisations.

It was a great opportunity to exchange experiences, learn from one another, and strengthen the relationships that help advance the rights, recognition, and dignity of domestic workers everywhere.

Despite our different backgrounds, countries, and roles, we share a common purpose.

By working together, supporting one another, and speaking with a united voice, we can create greater change for domestic workers around the world.

Together, we are stronger 💪

As Child Safety Week comes to an end, we’d like to thank the Child Accident Prevention Trust for the valuable resources they provide to families, nannies, and childcare professionals.

Throughout the week, we’ve shared information on preventing burns, choking, poisoning, road accidents, water-related incidents, and other common childhood injuries. These conversations are important because many accidents can be prevented through awareness, supervision, and simple safety measures.

CAPT was founded with a simple but powerful goal: to prevent children from being seriously injured or losing their lives in avoidable accidents. Today, their work continues to support families and professionals through education, training, and practical resources.

Child Safety Week may be ending, but keeping children safe is something we do every day.

We encourage you to explore CAPT’s free resources and learn more about their work:

Thank you, CAPT, for helping create a safer world for children.

❓ What is one safety tip or reminder from this week’s campaign that you will carry forward in your work?

💧 It’s Child Safety Week and today’s focus is water safety.

Water can provide wonderful opportunities for play, learning, and exploration, but it also requires our full attention. Drowning can happen quickly, quietly, and in surprisingly small amounts of water.

As nannies, we know there is no substitute for active supervision. Whether we’re at bath time, playing in a paddling pool, visiting a lake, or spending a day at the beach, staying within arm’s reach of young children can make all the difference.

Many people imagine drowning as splashing and shouting for help, but in reality it is often silent. Understanding this is one of the most important steps in preventing tragedy.

❓ What water safety rule do you never compromise on when caring for children?

🚗 It’s Child Safety Week and today’s focus is road safety.

Road safety is something nannies teach every single day, whether we’re walking to school, visiting the park, crossing the street, or travelling by car.

Children often learn by watching the adults around them. Holding hands near roads, using appropriate car seats, crossing at safe places, and avoiding distractions all help build habits that can last a lifetime.

One of the biggest challenges is that children don’t always recognise danger the way adults do. They can act impulsively, become distracted, or forget safety rules when they’re excited. That’s why supervision and consistent reminders remain so important.

❓ What road safety lesson or habit do you think has the biggest impact on keeping children safe?

🧴 It’s Child Safety Week and today’s focus is poisoning prevention.

Many household products that adults use every day can be dangerous to children. Medicines, cleaning products, laundry capsules, and dishwasher tablets should always be stored safely and out of reach.

Children are naturally curious, which is why creating a safe environment is one of the most important parts of our role as nannies.

❓ What household item do you think parents and caregivers most often underestimate as a poisoning risk?

We are proud to be represented at the International Labour Organization’s 114th Conference in Geneva through Waleska, who is participating as part of the WIEGO delegation and representing both SIT and SNA.

The conference brings together governments, employers, and workers from around the world to discuss the future of work, including issues affecting care workers, domestic workers, gender equality, and platform work.

It’s Child Safety Week and today’s focus is button battery safety.

Button batteries are found in many everyday items, from toys and books to remote controls and key fobs. Although small, they can cause severe internal injuries if swallowed.

As childcare professionals, it’s important to check that battery compartments are secure and to keep spare batteries well out of children’s reach.

❓ Have you checked the toys and devices in your workplace for secure battery compartments recently?

A few moments from Saturday’s CPR Course in Geneva.

Through hands-on practice our nannies refreshed life-saving skills, asked questions, and gained confidence in responding when every second matters.

At SNA, we believe every nanny should have access to quality CPR and First Aid training.

If you missed Geneva, there is still one final opportunity to join our upcoming First Aid & CPR Course in Zürich.

It’s Child Safety Week and today’s focus is toy safety.

Play is an important part of childhood, but not every toy is suitable for every child. As nannies, we can help prevent accidents by checking age recommendations, inspecting toys for damage, and ensuring play materials are appropriate for a child’s stage of development.

Taking a few moments to check a toy before play can help reduce the risk of choking, injury, and other preventable accidents.

❓ What is one toy safety check you always make before letting a child play?
